Should I return this?
Hi folks,
This is my first thread asking for help and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to offer advice. Two days ago i bought a brand new TM S-System to be used for CQB games at a local indoor site. They have a 90m/s limit, and the S-System snuck in at 88/89 in the store so i was stoked (Can't use my M14 Socom as it is 94m/s). Bought the gun, battery and 2 extra standard mags and got it home Saturday afternoon. I spent a few hours getting the dot sight dialled in and just doing some general indoor target practice in. Was really happy with the gun. Yesterday (Sunday), I took the gun to the indoor field and it passed the chrono test! Was stoked! I decided to put a 1 point stock on it as they had one at the supply shop. I had to buy a LayLax side sling swivel, but no big deal. The guy at the supply store took of the stock to attach the swivel, and as he was reconnecting the stock bolt he says to me "did you buy this used?" WTF? No. why? he explains that the stock bolt should attach directly to the mechbox, but that when he was reattaching it there was some movement in the mechbox and that he couldn't get it reattached the first time. He suggested I have the mechbox looked at cause he thinks it might be loose. He said it wasn't urgent, but could become a problem... He then points to the front and says "and your front sight is cracked!" Sure enough, the front metal flip down sight is cracked straight through just below the left release button. I have had it flipped down since attaching my dot sight, and have no recollection of hitting that area of the gun in the 24 hours I had owned it. Arghh! Anyone here have similar experiences? Do these metal parts break so easily that I may have broke it without noticing? I would think it would take some serious pressure to break that area of the sight. Nothing else around it indicates a hit. Should I not worry about it and just cover it with some paint, or would these two issues warrant a return to the seller? Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. |

In Canada, it would not be possible to return an AEG with what you describe. But in Japan, I guess you could or exange it for another one.

Airsoft guns in Canada come with no warranty or anything of the sort.
I would talk with the place you bought it and try to work something out. |

Thanks for your comments...
On the contrary, I figured you guys would be the right people to talk to...you all seem pretty knowledgeable about airsoft, and I figure someone on here would be able to let me know if a broken metal part is common or rare, easy to do or hard to do. I imagine the collective experience on here is pretty extensive. besides, it's nice to communicate in English once in a while :-) I plan on calling Tokyo Marui today and taking it back into the store to get their thoughts on it. Thanks again |

You are on the right track. Sometime, we're jealous you because you live are Japan so you can get any gun you want and pay the good price as well beside, we always have limit to our gun and always end up pay double or sometime triple the price. By the way, Most of parts that you mention about can be replace easy, like the front sight but still just give a call to manafacture, they might replace the hole gun to you. That's your best bet.

Called TM this afternoon and they said that there are no warranties on their guns but that I should take it back to the shop. I showed the boys at the shop a couple pictures and they said they would take care of it...they are ordering the piece tomorrow.
So it looks like warranties are the same in japan as in Canada...nada! |

The dummy bolt DOES NOT attach direectly to the mech box it attaches to the charging handle, the upper receiver has a groove for it to travel along. I would try and get an exchange at the local store you bought it from before contacting TM. |
