Action 8mm gear box for an AK

Airsoftparts.ca sells a complete gear box for AK style guns. I was wondering if anyone has ever used it or knows anything about them. I want to start gathering up parts for an up grade and thought it would be easier to swap the whole Mech box instead of just putting in new parts. This box comes pre assembled so everything should be aligned properly gear wise and includes all the hardware aswell as a high grade spring rated for 400 spf. The gun it is for is a Kraken. I have read alot of posts that list the up grades that should be done, now I'm just trying to figure which way is the best to approach it and get what I need. Suggestions welcome.

You're wondering whether or not you should buy it?

With that, you'll be able to play airsoft on Mercury and not have to worry about your mechbox getting a sunburn...

As for whether to buy it, it's totally up to you. It will definitely be a big step up from what you currently have in your Kraken. After all, this mechbox costs as much as your whole gun did.

Thanks guys. I was more intrested in it for the ease of replacement being it should already be shimmed and all. Yes it shoots pretty hot at 400, I was thinking I could down grade the spring and yes it is almost as much as my whole gun cost but what the hell. The internals I was looking at individualy priced was (ie piston, cylinder etc) was going to be almost as much. So yes my question would be should I buy it?

What are you looking to do? Replacing a few parts is most likely much cheaper than buying a drop in gearbox.

Why are you upgrading anyway? Is there a problem with your gun or you're unhappy with it's performance?

No not unhappy at all, it is working very well. You see I always like to research and and ask opinions before I make a decision what'm going to do. I guess wanting to go with a complete mech Box is more to save me screwing up putting one together. I have not had any experience tearing in to one though I have done intricate work before in other areas. There are lots of posts saying what all is needed but not specific as far as what manufactures parts work well together. I am planning on going to the convention next weekend so I was planning on asking lots of questions there. Should I consider that any parts that simple state that they are for AK 47's that they will work together and are compatable. The over all plan is to use the Kraken as is until it gives up the ghost and then up grade but I would like to have everything ready when that time comes. Also it would allow me to space out the cost,

I'd say run it till it breaks, and don't buy anything until it does.

Thats probibly what I'll do, I just like to have an idea of where I'm going when that time comes. I really appriciate the advice. The gun shots very strong and accurate so there is no real immediate need to do anything. Just asking questions.
