Replica Armor Plates for Cumberbund?

As the title says, i was thinking of picking up a pair of replica plates for my vest, but do they make any such plates for my cumberbund?

If you are aware of such items, please let me know, as i have yet to find any online at the major airsoft stores (i.e.: Redwolf, WGC, Airsoft GI, etc etc)

I think he's talking about side SAPI plates...I don't know any company who make side plates replica...

Yeah, I think he means 6x8 or 8x8 Side SAPI plates, too... I've been looking for some but haven't found any (fakes).

That is what i was talking about and that is too bad that you haven't found any. i might just have to make my own... or cut down some existing plates. thanks for the response guys

I did mention side SAPI plates to our Pantac contact since several of their plate carriers accept them, as well as their MTV -- and they now sell fake plastic plates, too. But I was told the cost to start producing them is quite high, so if there isn't much demand it's not worth it for them to try and manufacture them.

But there's still a tiny bit of hope.

Specially since the MTV hasn't been such a hit. Marines current in Afghanistan (III MEF, IIRC) have been getting the Eagle SPC, which also has side SAPI pockets. And whatever the final replacement for the MTV ends up being will probably have at least an option for them as well.

I bought some blue closed cellsleeping pad foam from MaoMart and cut it up for my side plates. Worked well for my deltoid pads too.

The foam works great for soft armor like the deltoids but, it does not come close to the feeling of hard plates.

edit： nvm i saw it on airsoft news eu. but here it is. its for the OTV which might be oversized. but it might work

Could you not contact cement 'pickle barrel' plastic to the closed cell foam to turn soft armour into a hard plate feel? Heck, cut out two plates and use the foam as filler in the middle for added realistic thickness.

Those barrels are high impact plastic so they can take a lot of abuse, are cheap, easy to cut with cheap jigsaw, and are moldable with a torch or oven.

Oven warmed, they can be molded to your body shape...remember to cover side with wet towel first....hssssss!
