Great guy to work with, and I'm assuming they're available in Canada, or something comparable.

I am not sure if I am special but I have had his issue twice in the last 2 times I was playing with a 11.1v 20C lipo and a MOSFET. I think I am going to go back to a nimh battery.

I believe everything is open source as well... at least the vanilla mosfets. His response time to emails is unreal. He's Gandalf over at ASM, but he doesn't post much.

I can vouch for HKGhost's mosfet units! They work great and I am no longer frying trigger contacts. As a bonus they are also fused which adds another layer of protection for your batteries and gun electrical!

That's not even physically possible. You're mosfet was definitely installed incorrectly.

Thanks buddy. I got a new model in the works. It's even more beefier but kinda of an overkill as it's gonna be supporting up to 600+FPS (I hope).

I'm sorry but your either confused or lieing. That's not possible with the amount of current running through your switch

a 9.6v NiMH mini will still arc your contacts
FYI you'll get about the same ROF from a 7.4v LiPo with is much easier on your contacts

Getting a MOSFET will audibly improve your ROF as well, and it will make your batteries last longer since it reduces the resistance of your electrical system SIGNIFICANTLY.
There's honestly no reason not to install one, infact, if you read the LiPo info thread, before even upgrading to LiPo you should install a MOSFET to see if you can get the desired ROF from a 9.6v NiMH.

You should only upgrade to LiPo if you need a battery with higher energy density, or you need a higher ROF. And believe it or not, you can get high ROF with just a 7.4v LiPo and high speed gears. The MOSFET effectively bypasses your trigger switch, but putting excessive voltage through your motor will burn it out quickly. And if your running an 11.1v LiPo, you're actually putting 12.6v through the motor when the battery is full.

If you guys haven't read this, now would be the time

I dont' know why mosfets don't come with all guns nowadays... They cost maybe a quarter to mass produce, and they could charge $15 more or whatever markup would be...

I saw some footage from the most recent Shot Show where ICS was showing off a new range of guns with built-in MOSFETs/trigger computers. Not sure if that has hit the market, or if it will, or what's the status, but perhaps as other parts of the gearbox/etc get commodified and competition heats up we'll see more computer circuits.

But yeah, considering how insanely inexpensive airsoft rifles are in the US, I'm amazed we haven't seen MOSFETs and trigger computers as a differentiation strategy yet.

How small can you get em down to?

I'm currently waiting to see how much extra space I'll have in my PDW's handguard after stuffing a LiPo in there (LiPo is still on the way, can't 100% trust HobbyKing's dimensions), have been thinking about stuffing a MOSFET in there since the AWS raptor doesn't seem to be likely to show up in Canada any time soon

The AWS Raptor is on the way to Airsoftparts.ca. Can't give an ETA as it's coming from over seas. My mosfet can be made really small, to the point that it can fit into the mechbox with minor modification. Smaller unit has less components and less protection, standard units are about 1"W, 1.5"L, 0.5"T and has all the protection components. They are the basic system to prevent arching and damaging contacts. Depending on your application needs, I can change the dimension on the unit.
