The stock breaking was my fault, I had to drill the hole out to fit the swivels and the heat must have warped the screw and fucked the threading along with melting some paint. And I would recommend the gun, but I have no clue about the chamber.

I had the same problem with the chamber on my tanaka M24, Its due to the fack that he tighten too much the screw in front of the mag well and that puts stress on the plastic block. I corrected the problem by buying the G&G heavy barrel set which came with the outter, inner barrel and a metal chamber block. Now its freeflot which on any other tanaka rifle isnt due to the fack that one of the sling mounts upfront is screwed with the barrel. With that, the rifle is about 8 pounds heavier!

I bought one of these (Tanaka M40a1) with the plain black stock last year. Nice gun, once you can get the pressure and hopup settings perfect. (good luck with that btw, was a bit of a b$tch to do, especially since the gas pressure fluxuates.

And then I traded it for another rifle, Penguin is the lucky owner of it now. Kinda wish I hadn't traded it to him, but ah well.

Hey, Seals, appreciate the post, that kinda confirms my problem. Will that G&G set work in an M700/M40A1 you think, or just for the M24 Exclusively.

Thanks,

Mike

it would fit a M700 for sure its the same system except for the buttstock. As for the M40... Give a email to redwolfairsoft or extrem airsoft in california (thats where I got mine) End up costing me 180bux went throught customs just fine.

Hey, quick question, do they replicate the floating barrel on that rifle?

(I know that on a technicality the actual 'inner barrel' is what the BB travels through, but I'm still curious)

on the stock one, no there's a bipod anchor point which is attached to the barrel ta make the gun strudier but with the G&G barrel set it really becomes a free flot.

Oh, alright. I kindof guessed that it would be fixed to the stock for stability (since it's not exactly military materials).

Thanks!

This process taking around 3 months in total for it to arrive to my house today.

Concept8- You know it, I put some propane in this bad boy right away. The hop up is easy to set, but somewhat touchy to get it on the perfect setting for range. Very accurate gun, I'm going to have to sight my scope in with my .36's and my bipod sometime when the weather is nice and I can see the pellets. I only tried my .25's today just to make sure the gun was functioning. The action on the gun is very smooth, and I love the look of the 10 round .308 box mag compared to the regular 5 round. Expect a review after I start playing in the spring. I believe its the only one like it in Canada with the woodland, I'm sure theres probably some other M40A1's but not his version at least. Its kind of a rare gun, pictures don't do justice to the stock either, the paint looks much better up close, the flash kinda makes it look different.
You might want to try otu other weights and brands of BBs to find the best perfomring ones for your gun. Anything made by Straight/Digicon is pretty crappy as it is as far as consistancy goes (BBs go where they want, when they want, basically making them useless in a sniper rifle........... I used Straight 0.36g and 0.30g for over a year, even as far as washing the graptie coating off them so they dont' goob up the hop up rubber with slippery stuff) and found them ulitmately to be crap, just like most airsoft snipers claim. Buy a box of 0.29g Maruzen Super Grand Masters or the new TM 0.30g Superior Grade BBs to find the true potential of your rifle. Incendentally, I have a gas KJW M700 and a super upgraded CA M24, both of them suck ass with Straight ammo past 80ft for the most part (out of 10 shots, I might have 4-6 BBs that actually make it within a foot of the target), but with 0.29g SGM, I can get pretty much every shot through a doorway at 200ft+.

Yeah, I bought a box of .3 TM's, they're much better than the graphite coated bb's.
