don says that its a completely stock gun, only thing i could see wrong with it was the crack running along the one side which could show that it has been used. Could the hop up need to be lubed up a bit more?

If it has anything to do with the hop up I would guess that its completely broken. Is the hop-up dial realy easy to turn, and when you turn it can you see a dark object moving down and up inside the barrel, if not I'm guessing thats the problem.

famas hopup is much different from an m4 and others. It doesnt have a stopping point on it and its a pain in the ass to get at with two fingers lol. Im not really sure if its broken but it might be dried out.

From what I read about your gun, I really think you should show it to someone with more experience in mechboxes... my guess is that you have a whole load of problems that need attention.
There's no shame in asking for help, and I know for a fact many of us will check guns out for free or almost for free. Repairs are another matter.

oh, that crack. The one you mentioned in an earlier thread
If you thought upgrading the mech box was fun wait until you put in a longer barrel

Why would you lube the hop-up? The hop-up is suppose to cause friction. Lube is suppose to destroy friction. So yea....
But anyways, how's it shooting now that it's upgraded?

If the hop-up was stuck on full hop I could see it causeing an issue for the FPS, but on .20's I think that would also cause the rounds to sail to Mars; pretty easy to diagnose I should think.

well i meant use oil to keep the hop up from drying out :P sorry for the miss confusion. And the gun is still shooting great had around 2000 bb's through it over the past 3 days and its still shooting. Its able to shoot through a pop can from 2 inches away(poor mans chrony) . Had to stop shooting tho cause the battery is out of juice. I needa get out to a game soon so i can really test it out, a basement can only go so far with range :P

If the groupings arnt that good with a paticular gun im sure hop, barrel wobble, different shoulder possition, muscle memory and the lack of a tight bore would have more of an effect on accuracy than FPS.

I would say fps comes more into play when playing outdoors or in wooded areas. Higher fps + heavier weight bb will give you better accuracy depending on your surroundings, over a stock gun using .20.

exactly and since i play outdoors i need the bush penetration and power to keep bbs from deviating due to wind.
