Typical Gas Consumtion of a can of HFC 134a in pistols

I have a question: Approximately how many shots or mag refills do you typically get from standard 250mL HFC 134a in your pistols? ofcourse this will vary by gun - but basically how do you guys know when to buy a new can? - i guess just have 2 and when one runs out it's time for another....

it really all depends on the gun. you'll know when the can is empty when the gun starts firing slower like when your mag is almost finished

Also carrying a few spares is nice, I used to just buy the damn things in bulk at costco.

Generally here it goes:

Efficiency of the manufacutre:
Japan>Taiwan>China
Upper Slide Weight:
Plastic>Heavy Weight>High Grade Aluminium(prime)=Aluminium (KSC Taiwan) >Metal(WE as example)

So basically if you got a plastic slide pistol made by japanese company chances are it will get a good efficiency, 2 is probably a good number, maybe a lil bit more.

TM, KSC System 7 are really efficienct and it will be able to push 2 mags out. (assuming no rapid fire)

cool thanks for the response guys and girls! I've just gotten a KJ Works Ruger MK1 and have been running it on HFC 134a so far. I guess i should get fairly good efficiency with it as it is non-blow back?

Yup, you'll get a lot of shots out of a can, likely double what any GBB would be able to have. As you said, all the gas is sent down the barrel, none is wasted on cycling the action.

As for knowing when you buy another can, go by the liquid sound in the can, don't try to keep a record of the number of shots fired. When the can sounds low, it'll still fill, but you'll get less shots per fill mainly because you'll be getting a lot of vapour and not liquid into your mag.

yeah i was thinking about that and i guess it's just like a propane bottle or spray paint can or anything eh - you can shake it to feel when it's getting empty - anyways just something I was wondering - basically I was trying to figure out the cost of each shot. BB's are around 1cent each or whatever so I was trying to compare to the cost of C02/HPA and paintballs...hehehe.....I am so glad there is something MORE than paintball.....plus you can buy a crap load of bb's and they don't go bad like paint (i don't think so-do they after while??) and you don't have to go to Crappy tire or some other overpriced place to get filled if you live in a small town!! What - just go to the gas station or radio shack and buy some propane/duster gas....thanks for the replies guys! p.s. I'm a poet.
