Spring for blowback on gas pistol
I am just wondering if anyone has found any springs that would be found in everyday or common items that would fit and work as a blowback spring.:banghead:
The spring I need was from the blowback chamber. It snapped and popped out. I am just looking to see if anyone else has found a similar sized spring that has worked for them. Any help or positive comments are appreciated. |

Yes, actually.
Go to a convenience store and buy a small BIC lighter, the kind with a flint wheel. Now, break the flint wheel and remove the flint, and below the flint will be a 1"1/2 spring. This can be cut to length to fit the spring from the blow back unit on TM 1911/Hicappa, and probably others. Best of luck. |

@ShelledPants, I've read a lot about that BIC flint spring, would it work properly on the 1911 even if it's shorter than the stock one?

A spring from a simple clicky/retractable pen apparently works too - ask militia about that. He mentioned something about using those as loading nozzle return springs all the time to me, once...
Short is generally not ideal. Probably would work - but hell, you won't know until you try it, right? If your pistol doesn't work right with the short spring, try a different spring (presuming that everything else was reinstalled properly). |

@thanks juicy for the speedy reply, all we have here in the Philippines are the Bic lighters with shorter flint springs, about 1cm less than the stock nozzle spring. I'll try to check those springs from a pen. I still am using the stock spring though, just asked in case I mess things up someday.
