1911 Grips

hey fellaz,

alright so i wanna change the grips on my WE 1911. Pretty simple right.

couple of questions here. First of all, anyone has advice on where to find a retailer or seller in canada that has a good inventory? i've been looking around and can't seem to find anything in country, and i want to avoid any wait or headaches with international orders...

Second of all, i was told that real 1911 grips will actually fit on my WE 1911, but are there sizes i have to check for? i would guess the grips on a compact 1911 model aren't the same as a full size one...

help is appreciated. Thanks.

Buy real grips if you want something in Canada. No, "Commander" and "Compact" are smaller versions of the 1911, AFAIK. Those grips will not fit your gun. Keep looking, I know that there is stuff out there! Oh, well you could try a gun shop?

Be wary, I got some grips from John VanZyck and had to file the holes to get them to fit on my WE 1911.

Oh... speaking of which - I can't remember exactly which, but a few of TM (and clones), WE, and/or WA need modifications to RS grips to make them fit. Going off of what DuffMan said, this may mean that RS 1911 grips may need minor modification to fit on your WE.
