front rail on my KJW M4
So I own a KJW M4, absolutely LOVE this weapon. I have purchased the Cradle piston but not the velocity reducer as of yet. I do plan to get Cradle to make me a full length(M16) internal barrel so I can have a full set of both the upper receivers for a short and long setup. My question is how do I choose the outer barrel and more importantly how do I choose a front rail? I have been told by people who don't own the KJW that just any AEG rail will fit..they think...because they heard from their sister's brother's roommate that the KJW fits AEG parts. I've watched two video reviews saying only some AEG parts fit it and have read posts describing how someone can't find anything at all to fit this weapon. :banghead: The closest airsoft store is roughly four hours away from me so I don't have the opportunity to just roll down to the store with my rifle and try stuff out; whatever I buy must be shipped and must work right off the bat. I'm relatively new to the whole airsoft world and am fairly unfamiliar with even how most AEGs work. I know for the most part how my rifle works as I have stripped it to just about bare myself. One of the main issues I've come across is that when I look online for front rails I don't see any mounting hardware; my rifle has a spring collar that holds the current front rail on. How the heck do I know that any other particular rail will fit into that? I am really unimpressed with the lack of detailed how-to sections, articles and videos maintained by the airsoft community. I think as I learn more about this weapon I'll have to introduce how-to media myself to help others in my situation.

That one helps to an extent; thank you. My main issue is that I am fairly unfamiliar with even the AEG side of Airsoft and now am moving into the GBB rifle end which is somewhat new to the whole airsoft industry. I guess I need to sit down with a gunsmith and just ask a bunch of questions then tear a bunch of weapons down together.

I put a magpul front set on mine. Works just like rails cuz you can put the rail sections on any part of the magpul you want, there is zero modification to it, and it takes about 20 seconds.

I like the magpul idea, can I get one that is for a full length M16 barrel? I don't know the sizes other than I'm pretty sure mine is 7" stock from the manufacturer.

not sure if they make one for a M16 length barrel, and if they do it would probably have to be real steel. The airsoft magpul stuff is everywhere, cheap too, but I have pretty much only seen it in M4 length. One thing though, you say you are going to or want to put an M16 length barrel on it? I hope you are going to do something to the velocity, cuz that gun already shoots over 400 fps, and with a longer barrel you are going to increase the velocity. Just something to remember.

I will get my barrel from Cradle, so I'll just grab a velocity reducer too. From what I heard with the velocity reducer un-inhibited and a full length barrel it fires at 510-525fps, yikes! So I'll be dialing that in as needed for sure!
