upgrading a DMR
hi everyone
i've got an ICS M4 (metal) I would like to make a DMR setup out of. Fornow I have the general exterior aspect(VN mags, scope, silencer) but I really need to upgrade the performances. I was thinking about buying 3 things : Madbull 6.03 tightbore 509mm, Modify Bore up cylinder set for M16a2 and Modify S90 spring. Opinions? |

Whats your field limit? Get it 15-20fps under that mark, and I do not know enough to recomend the bore up kit or not. From what I recall when I had to swap cylinders is that it did not truly enhance the performance in a way that I did not want, but not why... Anyhow grab all the stuff listed (6.03 is perfect, though others may suggest other brands) and add the SCS hop-up nub a guarder clear rubber and then get some heavy bastards to hit hard with!

If you're going DMR, I'm assuming you're playing outdoor. My two suggestions would up the spring a bit. An S90 isn't quite to par, especially since a DMR shoots the same BBs (ideally) as a BA. I'd recommend going to a S100, or if permitted to do so, use an S110. The S90 will only yield you about 330FPS, which typically isn't enough for a DMR. A 6.01mm inner barrel may also be more beneficial, but you have to do some BB research to make sure you won't jam up due to poor quality BBs. Pretty sure Bastards work fine in 6.01mm tightbores.

Up the spring a bit. You want to hit just under 400 fps. Some fields will allow a higher FPS for guns that are locked to semi only (mechanically).
Madbull tightbores are nice. Just make sure to use high quality BBs in it. Bastards are nice for that. Forget KSC perfect or Metal Tech. They jammed all the times I used them in tightbores. You don't need a bore-up cylinder kit. In fact, you will lose quite a lot of stability and FPS by using it. You will need a bore-up kit if you go with a barrel longer than 510mm. If you have the closed-type cylinder, that is fine. If you want to change the cylinder set, chose one that is full (no holes) but normal bore (sometimes noted as NB type). |

509mm is the maximum lenght without a bore-up. Technically, a 520mm would also work, but since the next lenght is 540mm and 590mm, there is nothing longer that will work.
If you have a clearsoft ICS, you really should consider getting a metal body for it if you didn't yet. It will stabilise the barrel, hop-up and mechbox assembly and will provide a lot more consistent shot. Also change the stock rubber for either a Prometheus purple or Guarder clear. The ICS rubber can be hit or miss... most of the time miss. That is why a lot of people think that the ICS hop-up chamber is crap... it is the stock rubber that sucks. |

If you're going higher you may need one (650mm) |

Alright so to recap :
Madbull 6.03 tightbore Guarder clear hopup set Modify S110 (with heavier BBs I could be a bit below 400 right?) |

bb weight wont affect the energy of the gun. other upgrades to consider (basically anything buy Modify or Prometheus): piston (i recommend prometheus hard type) Spring guide (either ARS, modify or prometheus) ARS POM piston head ARS cylinder head with attached sorbo Prometheus or Modify Air Nozzle That will get you a nice setup that will run smoothly, efficiently and durably. |
