Ares M110 upgrade project
Alrighy, so I'm beginning to think about my winter project: building the perfect DMR, based on the ARES M110.
Why the ARES? Well, especially because of the quick spring swap system, as some fields have 400 fps for all AEG, or some 430/450fps for those locked in semi. The goals: -Consistency -Precision -Quick trigger response I know I'll start with: - 11.1 LiPo (Trigger response) - Trigger Master MOSFET (Semi lock) - PDI tightbore (Precision & consistency) - SCS nub (Precision & consistency) - Prometheus rubber (Precision & consistency) - .30 Bastards Things I want to know: How are the ARES internals? (reviews are contradictory, and there's not a lot anyways) Is it possible and usable to install a Lipo inside the URX rail? (I'm likely to install a PRS, so no buffer to store the battery and no space in the stock itself either) How's the OOTB wiring? I'll take whatever suggestions you have for the internals. Thanks! I'll add to that:
Good consistency also requires good compression/airseal: -Airseal Nozzle(not sure what the M110 uses, SR25 length nozzle?) If the nozzle is not reaching, you may have to mod the tappet plate following the link in my sig -Piston Head (Modify POM, ARS MASK, they are all good. Bearing is a plus) -Cylinder(A smooth bore one with some cylinder grease) -Cylinder Head (Double O-ring if possible, not necessary) -Consistent Hop up unit(Rotary hop up unit is usually the easiest and best) Otherwise bearing spring guide and consistent Spring. Other things to note: -I have begun to notice Prometheus hop up rubber(soft ones) have started losing "friction" from their latest batches since 2010. I'm beginning to see less and less consistency between shots with their rubber. However, Systema has still been doing great with me even with the newest batches (ENERGY branded products). Systema rubbers are also post-treated on the hop "nubbing" inside the hop up rubber to provide maximum friction. This is explained in detail on their packaging. -depending on the QC of your hop up units, SCS may fit looser or tighter inside the hop up unit. If it is too loose(meaning the SCS moves right and left too much), your shots will deviate horizontally because the position of SCS is constantly changing between shots. On the other hand, tighter is good, as it centres the shot every time. If the SCS is too loose, try Prometheus Hard nubbings that come with their red hop up rubber. They provide maximum hop with minimum setting and is wide enough to be never loose inside any hop up unit. -Wash your hop up rubber and hop up unit with kitchen detergent before use!. -Do NOT lubricate your magazines as it will stick onto your BBs therefore causing inconsistent hop. -Do NOT over grease/lubricate the cylinder/cylinderhead/airseal nozzle unit as the piston will shoot lubricants straight into the barrel/hop up/rubber. Usually I only use a minimum amount of cylinder grease inside the cylinder and that's about it, works like a charm, nothing else requires lubrication in that area. -Bottom line, do NOT let any lubricant enter your accuracy parts. -Keep your inner barrel centred inside the outerbarrel. Some wobble do happen at times between the two parts, a roll of tape helps at the tip of the inner barrel. I think that's about all I can say for now in terms of precision, I may add later if anything snaps into my mind. |
