Screw in mechbox

So I went to go add some thing to my mechbox but one of the screws is stripped.

What is the best way to get it out?

I was doing to just drill it out but wasn't sure this was the best way.

Thanks in advance

Pete

Do up all the others tight first and then try to free it. If that's no dice then a reversing drill and an extractor type bit will do the job.

Re: Screw in mechbox

Which screw? One that's recessed/flush with the mechbox or does the head sit above the mechbox?

If you have a dremel, try and cut a slot in the head for a flat head screwdriver

just drill it out - get a bit big enough to remove the head of the screw then use plyers to remove the body of the screw when you half the shell

Try this tool from Canadian Tire works really good, just go very slow with your drill.

Mastercraft Maximum Grab-IT 4-piece Set
Product #54-3838-2

I'm pretty sure the small bit won't be small enough for a mech box screw

I have the 2-piece bit kit that originally came out and used it on a stripped/rounded out mechbox screw and it worked for me.

If you got to an auto parts store you can get single extractor bits if you don't want to go the full deal on the kit.

Replacement screw is easy.

Get a M3x12 metric screw. You can get some for RC cars (namely HPI likes to use that type).

If it is a bit lose, I highly recomment you to remove it and replace before running the gun.

Use a mastercraft extractor, those things ROCK
And FYI don't EVER try to drill out a screw unless you have a carbide drill. Your just going to mess up your threads.

I do it all the time with a cheap ass bit I bought in a 10$ set or 16....

I just take a bit a tad bit lager than the treaded portion, dril to cut the head off, then remove the thing and remove the last part with a pair of pliers... works good.

BUT if you got a very old dremel disk that has not broken, you can make a slice in the head just deep enought to fit a flat screw driver and losen it two turns. After that your should have enough grip to remove it with pliers if the slot you cut strips.
