18+ rule

Hey guys I just don't get this rule if the person is under 18 and can prove that he is mature enough then why can't he play. Paintball is an 18+ sport to but if the kid has a parent purchase a gun he can play if he and parent sign a waiver. Can kids (14+) play airsoft if they have a parent come with them?having minors in the airsoft would really grow the sport just like paintball which I have exp in and I can handle airsoft guns safely. I also know tons of people who would be interested in the sport if it was available. Even if some adults don't want to play along side minors then they could have certain games were they can play. Or the kids could come to a few matches be tested for maturety and have to prove themselves which some kids are more mature than some adults. It's up to the veterans of the game to teach the people of airsofts future. I myself am 14 and I already bought an airsoft gun and have some paintball gear that I can use to. I can also bring alot of friends into the game and they will tell their friends and so on and so on. I know way more kids then I do adults that are interested in airsoft. Wouldent it be nice if airsoft was a really popular sport like hockey+football and it wasn't the minority, it would be way easyr to get guns n gear since their would be more walk in shops. Youth is very good for the sport every pro athlete once wad in the minor leagues training to be in the bigs

There are many threads answering this question.

If memory serves right, I remember someone saying that if you're not mature enough to use the search function, you aren't mature enough to play airsoft.

It's all about the liability. If you're underaged, you cannot be held responsible for your actions. You legally are not an adult.

I personally don't like the whole idea of parents signing waivers then dropping their kids off at a field. That's paintball. This is airsoft, not a daycare.

Its not about maturity.

Maturity only factors into the equation slightly. Its about liability and in Canada the age where one can be legally held responsible for their actions is the age of 18. Given the nature of airsoft and how the the devices look if something were to go wrong or they were to be misused the only person to blame and be held responsible would be the person who was using them and not their parent or guardian.

And if we where to base it on level of maturity, then most of us would not be allowed to play

I mean seriously, we run around in fields shooting each other with plastic bb's. Our spouses must have some questions about our maturity for that.

Ok ok but what if parents stay at the field and then u know what after seeing their kids play it and have a blast they are also going to want to give it a try

I can show you a kid who's 12 and is as much responsible and mature as someone who is 30.
I can also show you a 12 year old who is as much responsible and mature as a 50 year old, but that 50 year old acts like they are 8.

This sport or, what I rather call it, hobby is growing just fine without under aged kids who cannot be 'legally' responsible for their actions while playing.

I also don't get how the paintball community can do it and this one can't? When I first started pball all the vets were very helpfull

There are minors among us but their parents/guardians are well known and respected in the community. They play side by side with their child all the time. Having mommy sitting in the safezone reading a magazine or yapping on the phone does no good.

Ok well then why do 90% of adults not know of airsoft

If the field allows youth participation along with parent or guardian participation that is fine.

We could play the what if game all day. The bottom line is that this website maintains the ideal that airsoft should only be bought, owned and used by those who are the age of 18 or older. We do not govern Canada, if you can find a place that with allow you to participate then by all means enjoy yourself.

Op-For allows 17+, and 15+ in some circumstances. Fraser Valley Airsoft allows minors check out their rules for more info. They play at Bigfoot in Mission.

Honestly, you come off as a bit whiny and I'd really be wary about letting you play even if you were 18. This is an honour sport and complaining like this doesn't really speak too much about your honesty.

Just sit back and seek out clubs that allow minors, it's as simple as that.

Waivers are flimsy pieces of paper as you grow older you will learn that they only serve the sole purpose of making people "feel" better.

I imagine that "someone" would have to be your legal guardian or at least should be. As mentioned above you should look into your local venues.
