How to kill an cheapo P90.
Some of you may remember Crunch's previous thread about trying to kill my old Firepower P90 awhile back. We were unsuccessful.
A couple of months back we tried again, and I finally have the footage to show the results. Enjoy! Attempt 1 (same as Crunch's old thread): YouTube- Attempting to kill a Firepower P90 airsoft gun with an 11.1V Lipo battery Attempt 2: Part 1: YouTube- Killing a firepower P90 part 1 Part 2: YouTube- Killing a Firepower P90 part 2

I must say that was very entertaining to watch. I would have never thought a plastic mechbox could run like that without melting or eating itself.

This was a fun video. It was over a year since we had promised death by car battery. Finally we managed to get to it. Honestly, I was expecting (and hoping for) some type of total, catastrophic failure of the mechbox. To have it simply strip a gear was a bit disappointing, but it was fun nonetheless.
I suspect that with that high ROF, the heat generated (and it was REALLY hot) probably softened the plastic on the gears causing the failure. After it broke, the shell of the gun was really hot. Where we could see the clear shell of the mechbox, it was cloudy as if there was smoke in it. Unfortunately, the camera couldn't really pick that detail up. So guys, did you pop the mechbox out of the gun afterwards to see which gear had stripped? I'm suspecting it's the bevel gear, but would be curious to know which exactly.

never did get around to opening her up... mostly as the thing wasn't designed to be opened (seriously, last time we did we needed to break the magazine clip at the back of the gun). I've decided since my original plan of fitting a Ruger 10/22 into the frame is illegal here in Canada, I'm gonna send the old girl off with a bang next game. I'll explain what I mean next time I see you Crunch... the rest of you will have to wait for the video

From the info I found, the mod is legal in Canada as long as the serial number of the gun is visible, so you need to cut a hole in the shell to expose the serial number on the 10/22's receiver. I could be mistaken on this though. If anyone knows better, please chime in.

Alright the. So, I think I may have something to contribute to sending it away with a 'bang' next time :P

I still want to make a turbo AEG that can withstand a car battery and use it as the base for a HMG. > : )
