Anyone have the Schmeisser MP40?
My brother just got one today and I was just wondering if there's a trick to getting the orange cap off? We could just paint it black but it looks like it comes off.

It will come off with some force, but be prepared to have your front sight come off with it.
The muzzle cap holds it on. Best to just leave it on and paint it unless you can source a full black one.

i would want to know where to get one too if any one finds them. UNCompany used to have them, but they ran out of stock just before I ordered it and I never got it, then they discontinued it. Really wish I ordered it earlier.

Yeah, leave it on. I learned the hard way.
I sourced a new muzzle nut from a freind in the UK. he is sending me a bunch of parts as 'backup' to things that may fall off. Here are some reccomendations: Locktite all of the screws visible on the outside of the gun. Mainly the ones on the front and back of the plastic side panels. Those tend to wiggle out a lot, I lost a nut that way. If you have barrel wobble, undo the barrel nut (Right infront of the front sling loop, you can twist that off). On the top there should be a screw, locktite that as well and make sure its nice and secure. And of course, the two screws on the front of the magazine well. secure those as well. I'm currently working on a fix for the stock wobble as well. we'll see. But right now i'm working on refinishing the metal on mine. (before) (Further tip on if you choose to refinish the gun. Everything but the front sight hood and the receiver is aluminum. And the outer barrel peice is anodized aluminum, you'll really have to work on sanding that down to get to the aluminum to darken it if you have the chemicals to do so.) Good luck! |

What about putting one of the knurled thread protectors that are commonly found on the MP5's. I know that I've used them before when I'm just looking for a clean finished look but nothing like a flash hider or suppressor.
I've used them on AKs. When I had my MP40 I just kept painting the orange barrel nut.

Mp40's have positive threading or something like that. Just about everything is negetive, including Mp5 flashhiders. AK nuts, etc.

Yeah, I had tried. Just ended up with me buying a suppressor that supported a positive thread. Problem solved aside from the fact a silencer is on an mp40 (Arg!)
