TM MEU with VFC metal kit problem

I just finally got around finding the parts I needed to reassemble my TM MEU with the VFC metal kit on it and I'm running into some problems with it. The gun won't shoot at all and most of the time whenever I pull the trigger it seems like the hammer can't fully hit the firing pin. The other big issue I have is when I pull back the slide it will get stuck near the end of its travel and in a few other cases it feels like the slide is just jammed and I can't even pull it back.

I have a few upgrades in there and I did try with different recoil spring and I didn't get any better results with any of them. Anything I should look for ? I did rechecked the slide assembly and everything seems to be properly seated but then again I could be wrong.

for the slide getting stuck towards the end, its possible that the hammer is getting caught under the blowback assembly.

not being able to pull back... I've run into problems before where i've had to shave down some of the lugs on the inside of the slide where they match up with the outer barrel. i just filed them down to a 45 degree angle to allow them to slide easier on top of the outer barrel.

Try reassembling the pistol but leaving out the barrel assembly. see if it cycling it manually is smoother

I just tried that and it seems to be getting stuck about midway in it's travel. That would be just before the notch on the slide to pop the slide release meets the slide release.

EDIT : I just tested it again and this time I held the hammer down as much as I could with a screwdriver and with the hammer fully pulled back it's not getting stuck other than on the initial pull but the rest of the way the slide moves freely.

its possible the rails for the slide might be causing friction against the slide. try applying some simple acrylic paint to the slide rails, then manually cycling the slide, seeing if any of the paint is wearing out faster in some areas than others.

I'm hoping either RacingManiac or Illusion can chime in, I haven't much experience with the 1911
