Had the same issue recently on an FN2000 ended up having to gently and carefully slit the length of it with a Dremel then snap it off in two halves the glue was tough

Check for a set screw on the flashhider...if there's one, remove it.

Use a propane torch to heat up the flashhider to soften/burn off the glue bond.

Crank it off while it's hot with an armourers wrench or adjustable wrench.

If it doesn't come off like that...you're either turning it the wrong way or haven't heated it up enough.

If it's plastic.. I'd employ a mechanical ( cut off ) approach rather than an incendiary one (Torch)

I had the same problem with my ECHO 1 M249 Para.

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=120587

They are pinned with a little screw in the flash hider as Tys mentioned.

Remove the screw first.

The flash hider is probably also held in place with some sort of epoxy glue.

I boiled mine in hot water and used pliers to un-screw the plastic flash hider once the glue was heated to the right temperature.

Right...If it's plastic (don't think the KA ones are though)...just grip-it-and-rip-it. Grab it with pliers and crank. It'll probably crack/crumble to bits. Then clean the threads out with an exacto knife.

The set screws are often glued in as well, which can be problematic. I've seen a couple of guys really damage their barrels trying to remove those.... ugh. Personally, the only gun I got with an orange flash hider was a CA G36. Rather than fighting with it, I masked off the gun with some tape and newspaper, and sprayed the flash hider with flat black Krylon. Worked like a charm.

Don't paint your plastic orange flash hider - you will just end up with a plastic flash hider that will show orange wear marks once you start to use it.

When I removed mine - I initially tried to just grip it and screw it off with a heavy duty set of pliers and ended up just breaking the plastic flash hider to pieces.

Heat it up before you attempt to un-screw the flash hider or you will just be left with a bunch of broken plastic pieces on your floor

Use a heat gun to heat it then use a armors wrench to break the seal. If you can clamp down the upper receiver in a vice, that would make things a bit easier.

Holy fuckstick Batman.

Simple solution.

Remove barrel assembly.

Remove Set screw

Soak Flashider/Barrel in Acetone.

Problem solved all for the price of a 5 dollar can of acetone.

If you cant remove the set screw then soak it in the acetone with it still attached. you will be able to litterally yank it free from the plastic flashider after it has dissolved it enough.

You will need around 13 times the volume of the flashider to completely dissolve it. So approximately 2 cups. Also leave it in a well ventilated space preferably outdoors and wear gloves, a mask of sorts (like a doctors mask at least), and some eye wear.

Cheers

Break it off. Simple.

Like m102404 said, grab it with pliers/vicegrips and yank on it. It'll break off if it's plastic (which I assume it is?).

I stripped the locking screw on my new SIG thanks to that superglue shit. I keep forgetting to pickup the acetone so I can just get it off with little hassle. I got my old M16's flashhider and locking screw, so no biggy, just annoying as fuck, lol.

For Echo1 M16/M4 and JG M16/M4 besides a set screw in the plastic flash hider there is also a small dia. pin that is staked thru the plastic into the metal outer barrel plus glue. If you try to un-thread the flash hider the pin will bend and pull out of the outer barrel but as you un-screw the flash hider the pin will chew up the threads on the outer barrel. If you do this the threads are still okay enough to screw on a new metal flasher hider but there is just something basically unsound in doing it this way. What I do is use a Dermal tool with a cut off wheel and cut a slot at an angle to the pin and then when you apply a small amount of pressure to un-screw the flash hider it should crack. Once it cracks use a flat blade screw driver in the crack and twist until the flash hider beaks into two pieces and remove it, Clean off the glue from the threads on the outer barrel and bob's your uncle!
For metal flash hiders with a wrench pad and a set screw with glue just remover the set screw and a tight fitting wrench and over power thru the glue. This works on CA Tm VFC King Arms etc. IF you run across some type of glue that won’t let lose then I would recommend a heat gun (but be prepared for the paint to blister)
Many times a day my work includes removing the TM 3 piece type M16/M4 outer barrel and replacing it with a Mad Bull two piece outer barrel. In this case the flash hider needs to be removed to allow the Triangular front sight to be removed and transferred to the new outer barrel. A few times I have run into a set screw in a metal flash hider that was deformed and I just could not get to unscrew. I locked the old outer barrel in a vise and used a 18 inch crescent wrench and forced the flash hider off chewing up the threads on the old outer barrel totally but who cares it is going in the scrap anyway. After I used a ball type rotor file in a dermal tool and ground out the set screw so I could reuse the flash hider. Trying to drill out the set screw will prove problematic unless you have some high grade drill bits that are met to drill thru heat treated steel which the set screw is made of.

Cheers
