Attaching velcro to rubber switch

I need to attach a velcro strip to a rubber remote switch. The adhesive that was on the velcro did not stick to the rubber switch at all even though it was cleaned of any oil etc.

Anyone know what adhesive to use to attach the velcro to rubber switch?

Shoe Goo would be my recommendation.

Seriously tho, any adhesive that states "for use on rubber". For instance, contact cement.

I just removed the Velcro altogether and just used some 3m double sided tape. I mean how often will you really be taking that switch off?

Yup, shoe goo rocks.

Two sided tape would be more secure IMO.

contact/rubber cement works awesome..people just dont ever read the directions.

as a kid you would gunk it on and stick paper to paper...but actually, you just paste it on each piece you are sticking together..let each side dry..but when you put it together BAM...gtg. Like patching a bike inner tube.

Shoe Goo didn't work. It stuck to the velcro but it didn't stick to the rubber switch.

Double sided tap won't stick to the rubber switch also.

I haven't tried contact cement yet though, got some kicken around so I'll give it a shot.

Worse case wrap the switch in heatshrink and then use the shoegoo im actually surprised shoegoo didnt stick that shit is industrial grade snot and sticks to everything

Maybe my shoe goo is too old. I'll buy a new tube and see if that makes a diff but I don't think it will.

The shrink rap is a good idea and I'll go that route if nothing else will stick.

Never had this happen either must just be some strange rubber they used for the switch.

Go to can tire and get some wider shrink wrap from the auto section...doesn't even need to be as long as you switch.

Slip it over your switch and shrink in place

And try good old contact cement. Scuff surfaces...Clean surfaces...brush contact cement on (not too sparingly) to both surfaces...let dry (as in not sticky/tacky to the touch) *keep out of dusty workshops/etc...*. When both sides are dry to the touch...position carefully...check position...press firmly and evenly. If that doesn't stick it....it wasn't meant to be.

If all else fail, resort to PL-Prenium industrial glue. Even Chuck Noris can't break the bond of this glue.

It come in large tube and you will need a cocking gun to apply it.

Okay got it.

Used LePage Extreme Repair Adhesive from HomeDepot. Let it cure over night and it sticks.
