ACOG, with or without iron sight?
Hey everyone, just a simple question.
When I install an ACOG scope on my G&G M4 carbine, will the front iron sight interfere with it? The reason I'm asking is, I can take it off, but if there is no need too, I won't. Lemme know, just a simple "Yes it'll work" or "no, the iron sight get's in the way" will work for me Thanks everyone! |

Yes. the Trijicon Acog was designed specifically to not allow the shooter to see past the front site.

LOLLL.
OP: If you find that the front sight is getting in the way, remove it. If you can see over it a bit, you should be ok to leave it on. Your Acog crosshair should be co-witnessed with the front sight anyways.

if your acog is magnified and not just a reddot then you wont see the front sight. Wolf was just very poorly attempting to troll you.

I can see my front sight as a grey blur with my magnified ACOG. So would say "your mileage may vary", with some types it will be an issue and others not. You really need to put the two items together to know for sure for your preference.
Other notes, don't saw off your front site tower if it is in the way. Purchase a new gas block. Don't scoff either, if you read on here you'll see other folks have made that mistake. Also do not confuse co-witnessing with co-zeroing. When you co-witness your iron sights through an optic it simply means you can see them and line up the target. If you have a magnifying ACOG you wont' be able to do that. Also unless the plane your irons line up through is exactly the same plane as the irons line up through you won't zero your reticle onto your front sight. Last, I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this before but pugs looks just like that Queen guy!

Have my magnified ACOG on a raised rail off the flat top of my M4. Never see the front sight at all.
