Removing the bucking from the hopup (entirely)
So, probably not exactly what you expected when you clicked on this thread, but I was wondering if anybody has thought about a way to achieve this in non-ptw airsoft guns? Alternate means of airseal? After hearing reports of the success of the ptw hop, I'm beginning to think about the future of airsoft, and how the bucking-nub configuration is becoming dated. You can PM me if you'd like to chat, and we can arrange something.

I think the bucking will always be an integral part of an AEG, given the functions it provides. What would you replace it with that does as much or works as well?

In the ptw, they've replaced the bucking with an airseal chamber, which means you are no longer have to worry about a bucking as the interface with the bb, which opens up a whole world of direct interaction with the bb... Call it decoupling the air seal and hopup functions. Possibly even extend the hopup to encompass the front of the gearbox to reduce/eliminate blowby.

My VSR-10 uses a standard AEG style method of appying hop up. It can accurately engage heads to 240 feet, and it's maximum range is much further.
My M249 at claybank could reach out and touch people 260 feet away. I've seen GBBR's accurately getting kills out at 260 feet no problem, they work the same way as AEG's Why do I want to mess with that? lol |

That is one change I'd like to see in the sport, but maybe I'm just dreaming... A spherical lightweight projectile... can only be so stable before freaking out. |

I think wind would be the biggest factor in accuracy. Airsoft guns are pretty accurate otherwise.

This can't be confirmed until someone does the barrel tests (bbb does hopes to get it done by March), but I don't think the hopup puts off consistent rpm, which causes the spread we see at long ranges.

use a firefly hop rubber, problem solved lol
The inherent accuracy of a PTW isn't JUST from the hop rubber, it's from the airseal it gets. Better airseal = more laminar airflow = better accuracy |

True True, but I still think we can do better without spending $1500US, and the firefly doesn't solve the rpm problem I talked about earlier.

Help me guys...didn't DeepFire make a PTW-like hopup for AEG's...never took off. It appears as though they now make PTW hopups for PTWs...but didn't they come up with something for an AEG?
Not confusing Modify's ICS-like variant... ....edit...Wrath144 posted first...do you have a link, can't find it anymore |

I found no mention of it on their site, and many of the announcement videos have been removed. Maybe it was discontinued?
