It takes alot of time and sourcing of parts
I built mine based on a JG M16, the only original part left is the base plate for the motor - Used a C8 with Canadian markings as the base - Knight Arms Butt full stock - Tight bore barrel - Knight Arms heavy outer barrel - Real steel forestock with heat shield and gas tube - Real steal front site - Knight arms (I think) delta ring - Knights Arms pistol grip - Real steel Elcan About 3 years of work and 3 gun docs before I got it to where I wanted it Good luck and let me know if you need any referance photos Jakster |

If you're looking for a C8 I suggest you to buy the one on Toronto Airsoft. The most important part is already on the gun (the body). You only have to change the barrel, the handguard and the stock if you really want a C8.

Those are nice guns. But note that they have the LE trademarks on them and not the CF version. If you're ok with that, then go for it.
Your best bet for authenticity (if you want the CF version) is to build it yourself. There's little in terms of the defining features of the Canadian guns that set them apart in look from the American M-series in these pre-built guns. The receivers with the authentic markings are hard to locate, but pop up in the classified occasionally. You just have to be quick and snatch them up as they tend to disappear quickly. I have one of each. Both have the receivers, and are "mostly" authentic. A few externals details are off, but nothing major. My C7A2 is as close as it gets. It's basically the same as an M16 only with a proper C7A2 marked Guarder receiver, and TRIAD mount. I have a G&P crane stock on it, which is the variation on the real steel, and my furniture is black rather than green. I also use an ELCAN replica. Other than the colour and stock, it's as authentic as it gets. My C8A3 is a full custom build. I got a DBoys C8 receiver (not C8A3 unfortunately)as the base. Everything else is custom built. It also sports a G&P crane stock, and has green furniture, TRIAD and real steel slim handguards. The only thing it needs for completion to 100% authenticity is the heavy barrel. I never got around to getting one. I'll switch between an ELCAN and a real steel EOTech 552 on this gun.

The TRIAD mount is a fairly easy find I think One Shot has some.

No they don't. they have a cadex tri rail. RIS is better anyway. Put up a wanted ad for the TRI-AD, they will come out of the woodwork.
There were a few C8 bodies brought in but they got snatched up real quick. My advice is not to build on the WA platform, I have been sitting on all the parts for my build for about 6 months now waiting for a body. Last edited by The Chad; October 25th, 2011 at 11:25.. |

6 months = you arnt even trying. I have 3 custom builds sitting on my workbench as a matter of fact. I have a spare lower sitting around here somewhere. What you need to build it (WA) Engraved Receiver (Blank receiver with custom engravings is easiest) C8 Slim Handguards (I ended up using a Lighted Foregrip and flipped my triad backwards) L11A1 Heavy Barrel (Pro Arms Makes em for WA) C8 Collapsable Stock (G&P) Stock Pad (Guarder) Elcan (I find Trigger Happy makes the best clone, or you can go with a real one) C8 CoatHanger Charging Handle (I Modified a real one) Grip (I ended up swapping to a MIAD to hold a few Extra CR123s) Ambidexterious Mag Catch (G&P) TRIAD (Real)

That's awesome. I had no problems getting laid last night but has nothing to do with my build. There are no retailers in country selling WA GBBR bodies, end of story.

EoTechs (552 or 553, can someone clear that up?) are also another option if you don't want to use an Elcan.
If you plan on engraving trademarks: *LEAF ICON HERE* CANADIAN FORCES CANADIENNES C7A2 5.56 mm XXAA##### Replace C7A2 with C7, C7A1, C7A2, C8, C8A1, C8A2, C8FTHB, C8FTHBA3 or C8A3 depending on what you're trying to Replicate. The C8FTHBA3 was I believe a bunch of FTHB receivers used for the first batch of C8A3s, but I could be wrong. Updated receivers (For example, a C7 that was rebuilt into the C7A2) will have the new designation engraved into the body next to the original and thus the designation will look "Off Centre" XX represents the last two digits of year of manufacture, AA is the weapon code, and the # represents a 5 digit ID. I don't remember weapon codes off the top of my head. 88AA01234 would denote a lower receiver made in 1988, AA denotes an original C7 lower receiver, and 01234 is unique to that receiver. Again, I could be wrong and I probably have made a mistake, but I'm sure someone can clarify. PS: The TRIAD is a piece of [Bleep] Last edited by MaybeStopCalling; October 25th, 2011 at 17:27.. |
