GHK AKM Help

Hey guys

This would be my first GBB airsoft gun and I'm really new to the concept of them so I need some help.

I've had my Dboys aks-74 for about 2 years now and I want to upgrade. I was looking at the GHK AKM GBB and was extremely interested... however, I do not know much about GBB guns.

I need to know a couple things:

What maintenence needs to be done to these guns? I know you need to use oil but how exactly do you apply or where do you apply it?

What kind of Gas should I be using for this gun?

I'm pretty much just asking for the main things that I need to know before buying this gun.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Guys, if you get AV'd I'm pretty sure you can find one relatively easily- But until you do, it'll be a lot harder.

First signup on GGi (gasguns.info). There's plenty of info available there.

As for maintenance, basically oil up any moving parts where there's metal on metal contact. Basically what I do is this except scaled up: Gas Blowback Regular Maintenance - RedWolf Airsoft - RWTV - YouTube

I have a SRC AK74U which is a different system than GHK or other brands obviously but it's kind of hard to describe what parts I do and how I oil them. You just have to understand the system basically, and lube up any moving metal on metal parts.

As for gas, propane or green is fine. It depends on your field limits and ambient temps but if you're shooting too hot then go with duster but otherwise propane is cheap as hell and just add a few drops of silicone oil to the mag every 4-5 mags or so.

Mine shoots about 350 on propane, and the bolt is fairly heavy. I have a feeling it might have problems cycling on duster.

I put a little bit of white lithium grease on the moving parts. Particularly the insides of the receiver and the gas tube. You don't see it in pics, but the gas system also replicates the real thing and goes into the front grip. Lots of metal contact and friction there.

Mines had about 2000 shots through it with no issues, and you can clearly see where the paint has worn off to do rubbing.

Make sure you keep the mags gassed and oiled. You shouldn't have many leak problems.

The mags are also relatively easy to service....there are 8 seals in total that may require sealing/lubing in case of a leak developing, all O-ring seals.
