WA Colt NBB (restoring to it's former glory)
So I basically got a broken/parts WA Colt NBB in a trade and I'm trying to get it back functioning again. I know hattrick and safx are the resident WA experts here so here's hoping that he can help (already PM'ed hattrick at the risk of looking like a needy/whiner and it seems that safx isn't very active anymore) but if anyone else has any knowledge to pass to me before i destroy a pistol that would be appreciated. Also if anyone has any takedown or parts diagrams that would also be appreciated so that at least I can try to make sense of it...
Pretty much it's a WA Colt 1911 Production division NBB. I will confirm the exact details sometime next week. OK... It appears to be a Colt "Gold Cup National Match" pistol, more details to follow when I have more time. Now the problems; First is the problem of the mag. It appears as if the fill valve nipple was broken off. I need to find a replacement and was basically wondering if fill valves are universal or if WA does something special. I know with regards to their GBBR line they do something special (appears to just be a bit longer or something) however is it the same with their pistol line? If it's a different thread can I retap a new thread for say a Mad bull fill valve? I don't want to purchase things and not have them work. Once I get the mag working, the second problem is finding more of them. It's a really old design.... This doesn't even appear to be Magna, or SCW. It's a totally new mag design to me (old school as hell, like when MGC, Asahi, JAC, etc. were operating) I've never seen anything like it before there's no feed lips, rather there's a hole in the top of the mag that the gas pushes the BB out of. I'll take pics next week since at the moment it's at a friends place where they can rebuild it, they have the technology. Second, it looks as if some sort of acid or something dripped into the gun where the ports were cut and there's a hole in the inner barrel where there definitely shouldn't be.... Is the barrel proprietary or can I easily find a close enough replacement that will fit with some modification (ie. cutting out slots for the hopup to fit into or whatever)?
