King Arms Silencer fitting problem
I have recently acquired a King Arms Lightweight (40mm x 220mm) silencer for use on my TM M733 (technically it's a M933, but whatever). It came with both +14mm and -14mm threading, and I'm sure I'm using the right threading section but for some reason, when I screw it on, it fits loosely. It's like the threading is more like -14.01mm and not -14mm. At present I've taken to using teflon tape and wrapping it around the end of my AEG to achieve proper fitting, but I am not sure if this will hold up to use in the field.
Is there another way to make this silencer fit properly? I know it's not a problem with all silencers since just today I attached another silencer of the same type to another M733 and it fit perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try your silencer on that M733 and verify if its the threads on your silencer, or your gun that are borked.

I'll try that today. Worst case scenario is that my gun's threads are humped, in which case I'll just teflon tape the heck out of it. Somehow I doubt it, though, since my flashhider fits on perfectly.
If there are more solid solutions to this problem, I'd sure like to hear it.

sounds like you get to return your silencer

I don't think that's really an option at the moment, but we'll see what I can do.

I know it may be a stupid question, but when you took of your flash hider did you make sure that the little screw in it was completely out before undoing the flash hider?
I only ask because when I got my silencer, I took of the flash hider but the little screw wasn't out all the way and ended up stripping the threads on my outer barrel. Then the silencer would not go on properly, exactly how you described. And if that's the case, teflon tape didn't do anything, and I put lots!

I'm quite sure that my flash hider's little screw was all the way out before I took it off. The threads looked ok, too.

Thankfully the problem lies in the silencer threading, not the gun. I've tested this by trying my silencer onto another gun and the same problem was encountered. In fact, upon closer observation, the threading on my silencer seemed loose enough to slide partially over the threading on the gun.
I've been using teflon tape and it holds so far, but is there any other way to fix this? Can a replacement part be machined?

return it to the supplier you purchased it from. they should have known it wouldnt fit.

As previously stated, refunding the silencer is not really much of an option since it was purchased in HK. I'd rather get a new part machined or live with teflon tape than go through the hassle of shipping it back to the supplier without proof of purchase.
Now the question: Does anyone know of a machine shop in the Vancouver area that can build this part for me for a reasonable price? I don't think it's too tough of a project. I just don't have the proper equipment to build it.

you know... if you ship the barrel and the silencer to Aerotech in calgary, im positive those guys could sort you out.
they do amazing work. |

I'll be sure to look into that, thanks very much. But I was thinking along the lines of drawing it up in CAD format, emailing them the file and seeing what they can do with it. That way it saves me some shipping and they can assess the work required. I will, however, look for a local machinist first.
