Spring for fps

hi gunsmith i want to know if it is possible to reduce fps of a aeg ben by decompress te spring just a little or by removing 1 or 2 section of it thk for your answer. By the way my gun is a g&g mp5 sd5 stock version no upgrade

Inadvisable to modify a spring. Best to replace it. Compressing it will cause it to lose much of its strength over time since it has undergone plastic deformation (meaning it has been stresses beyond the yeild point of the metal) and cutting it can also change the properties of the spring, and how it sits on the guide, since both ends of the spring are ground and squared from the factory.

some people do cut their springs, but I'd rather short stroke or remove the PH bearing, add more sorbo or yadda yadda. all that does have the side effect of removing consistency though.

so yes, it is possible, just hard to get right.

With all due respect, I'm not sure you do understand, actually.

350fps is a limit, not a goal. Buy a spring which is rated M100, fix your compression, and play at 330fps. Easy.

Velocity limits are a fact of life in airsoft. If the rule was changed to what you are asking for, namely 355fps, then you would see dozens of posts like yours complaining that their brand new 360 to 380 fps gun (M110 springs mainly) isn't shooting slow enough and that admins need to consider this.
