"Canadian" is the demise. I'm looking into handguns once I acquire my restricted PALs... No way am I touching Para can kiss my royal ass, dam expensive, and they don't even make an ambi safety.

Yes, I know about aftermarket parts... However, at the price it fetches, it should be standard, at least on a few models.

Yea, I was. Do they? About time... Anyways, I've found something a little more interesting, the 'Taurus PT 1911'. Shooting Times had a fairly basic review on it, and yes, I'll admit they're more in line of an advertiser then a true review magazine (such as Consumer Reports), but, shit, a "custom" for the price of a stock? Kinda hard to turn down...

You have to be careful with the Taurus line of handguns, the Taurus I had spent most of it's time sitting in the cabinet waiting for parts to be sent up from the US then it did actually shooting. I'd get it fixed and about 300rnds later something else would break on it, and of course it would always happen right in the middle of a IPSC comp. Sure they are warrentied for life, but when it takes 8-10 weeks from the time you send the form and the broken parts to Taurus and you get the new parts from them and then some of the parts are "gunsmith fit" it just wasn't worth the hassle, thats why I sold the thing to someone else, and stuck with my comp back up gun, a CZ 75, well over 10,000 rnds threw it and not a single problem with it yet. The only reason I bought the Taurus was it looked cool especially with the nickle plating.

Lotsa models... Not too sure what to do. As much as I rant about Para, I was thinking: http://www.paraord.com/product/product.html?id=70

Obviously, no hi-cap mag. Ten rounder as-is the law.

Never shot a handgun previously, sooo, I don't think I'd be ready for .45.

Or, maybe something with a .22 conversion kit? It'd make a day at the range cheap as hell!

Quick Q:

On the reserves, any idea how often guys make it out to the range (past SQ, of course)? Moving back home come august, I'm actually on my way shortly to the recruitment center. The things I do for my country.

My uint makes it out to the ranges to qualify with our C-7 twice a year, once in the fall/winter, and once in the spring just in case you missed the first shoot in the fall.

Pfft, but that takes all the fun out of the 1911! Sure .22's are cheap but they can become boring after some time and those conversion kits arn't the cheapest things around either.

The kimber ones go for about 300 US, give or take, Im not sure what they would be like up here with price inflation.

HK. If you are interested, I can get you one. Price about CDN 70(excluding shipping and handling). The mounting point is your trigger guard.

I have a Tarus .45 (not sure exactly what model) and I love the gun. It is more reliable then any gun we own, and I have never had a single problem with it in my 4 years of ownership.
