V2 gearbox problem

King Arms version 2 drop in gearbox problem
The details-During a short burst of full auto the gun made a louder pop sound and went dead... nothing further. Brought it home, careful disassembly revealed a busted piston head. A cursory inspection showed nothing else so I replaced the head everything went back together smoothly. BUT dom dom dommm. the guns not working, when i pull the trigger on semi, i hear a single click that kinda sounds like it comes from the trigger area. IT's not the battery or cheap BB's any other suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Check your fuse - make sure it's still good.
Check your anti-reversal latch - make sure it's not on backwards.
Check your trigger contacts - maybe carbon scored?

Did you hook up your battery and/or motor backwards?

well no fuse, battery polarity and motor polarity correct, I was very carefull with the anti reversal latch - Since the original post i have determined Via multimeter that no power is getting thru to the motor contacts. which leaves the trigger i guess.

Since I know nothing about the trigger in these mechboxes, do i access these trigger contacts from inside the gearbox or under the part that does the fire selection?

The originally described trigger "click" might've been an electrical arc across your trigger contacts, then. You'll need to open the mechbox again to access the trigger assembly.

Put it in auto and pull the trigger. What happens? Then put it back in semi and try it.

I have the gearbox out again with the motor hooked to the leads and the motor laying beside the gearbox
IN full auto-the motor runs
In semi auto - one loud click from the gearbox, motor doesn't move
SO i'm going to open the gearbox and try and figure out the trigger assembly workings.

Nono, put it back in the gun and do it. i suspect the gears are at the exact spot where they are just tripping the cutoff lever. It is called the semi auto glitch and is common to all v2 gearboxes. Everything you have said is a textbook example of this.

Put the gun back together, and fire it in full. This will move the gears so they are no longer pushing tue cutoff pever down and resetting the trigger when you pull it in semi.

And the click you hear is the trigger contacts snapping back before they engage because the cutoff lever is pushing on them.

XZIVR Thanks you were absolutely correct, and the dumb thing was i knew about that glitch I got so focussed on the broken piston head that I didn't think of it. If you ever get to Trenton or I get back to Calgary-I owe you a beer!

Heh no worries. Sometimes it just takes that third person perspective.
