Question How bad did you mess up your gun?

So today I messed up my gun. Trying to upgrade some internal stuff.

It is a little depressing.

So I am curious, who has done a better job messing up their gun?

Hard to say how one can out-do your messed up gun, when you don't detail how messed up you made your gun.

Shiite happens, just take it as a (somewhat expensive) learning curve, or find a gun-doc if you aren't feeling brave.

*edit* - I may or may not have screwed my latest purchase, an M14, up royally while partially disassembling it to put a bipod on - breaking the upper receiver at the point at which the barrel mates with the gearbox - not 100% sure it was me - but i don't remember the crack being there when i took it apart, but it sure was there as i was putting it back together - I didn't actually disassemble that portion of the rifle to make it crack. I McGyvered it back together and secured the barrel inside the stock, to make sure it wouldn't flex and make that crack worsen in time. One thing is for sure though, it ain't resell-able now...

Take me for example. My first full metal was a full metal in name only. Built out of leftover bits and pieces and etc. It sported a TM AKS-74U body, TM hopup, but that's where it gets bad. The inner barrel was close to 6.15 mm and the mechbox was actually encased in plastic. When it broke down, I took it apart to try and fix it. It was never reassembled due to the fact that about 80% of the parts inside were broken ans/or shredded. So I threw the damn thing out and gave the surviving parts to...erm....I don't really remember...

I later found out the internals had come from a Crosman R76 . Yes, that's right. CLEARSOFT.

That's my story. What's yours?

Good point.

It's a G&P m4 (C8) aeg.
I bought it last week. Got some new gears, shims and hop up for it. Opened it and replaced the gears and added shims.

Took a bit to get it back together (2 days). The motor wasn't far enough in so it made a mess took it apart again cleaned it up. Then after that got it back togther but it did not work at first. No power, or so it seemed. The battery and motor were warm. So then loosened the motor adjust. After they cooled down tried it again. It worked this time, but then suddenly just stopped.

I'm nervous to mess around with it any further. So in an attempt to avoid it breaking down in the field I FUBAR'd it.

I just wanna get out and play.

Bought a nice Shooters design metal slide for a WA hybrid infinity. Didn't know it at the time but there is a big difference between the slide for a manga gun and a SCW 3 gun. The blow back unit didnt fit in the new slide. Good thing it only cost 200 bucks right? So I had to break out the dreamal and grind the hell out of that thing just to get the blow back unit to fit.

Next job was milling out the slide so the rails for the blow back chamber could fit. Took 3 hours and ended up getting to the point of cycling but no feeding.

As it stands that gun still sits somewhere in my parents house unfinished. Someday Ill finish you my love, some day

So I just realized that wasnt a fail. Hmmm well I did buy a skeleton sidearms P226 onces. That gun came fucked up out of the box!

I once had an Ares G36c that would fire full on semi but only when there's a BB in it. With no mag it's fine, with an empty mag it's fine...a mag with 1 or more BBs it would full auto, no mag and a BB in the hop-up chamber it'll full auto.
Turns out every single spring in the gearbox broke some how. O_o

I dunno.. I had a gun that was pretty messed up. Bought it used.. guy lied about it, sent it to me then disappeared. His problem became my problem. Been about 9 months now. $$$ mistake. Bills are still adding up for it as I try and track down the problemS.

I have changed nozzle, cylinderhead, piston, tappet, ARL, tried new hopup, on 3rd hopup rubber, trigger assembly, mechbox screws (cause in ripping it apart probably 60 times in the last 9 months, the screw heads just wore out), still coming are new gearset, 3rd new nozzle... oh, I bought another gun exactly the same as it (but brand new) because I bought a shitload of mags that weren't being used... and I wanted to use them.

I am however slowly starting to find and fix all the gun's issues.

As for messing up a gun myself? haven't done that yet.

lesson learned. Never buy used again.

G&P M4?

Well, the first thing to go on those things are the gears (for such great externals why are their gears that crap???). After you get past that, they'll run quite smoothly. I highly recommend Guarder Infinite Torque set otherwise Element (love their helicals) or SHS (not the gen 2 sets though according to MaciekA).

I have experience with stock TM (meh, they're alright but I wouldn't try pulling too hard of a spring with those, at most I would say M100; with TM you never touch the internals and it'll run fine pretty much forever). Guarder is my brand of choice for most upgrade parts when I'm looking for price/performance and their gears are quite good. Element no problems and they can be run hard with little to no wearing down, hell I would buy those Element FTK's and toss out everything except the gears. Finally SHS which seems to be the brand of choice for people who know their stuff (MaciekA) haven't tried them yet but I might next time I build something up.

As for me..... Within the first 5 minutes of owning a G&P body I stretched out the charging handle spring (it's a $3 part) but yeah..... first 5 minutes....

Once I put a drum mag into my PPSh. 4 months later, it's still stuck in the gun, sitting at Illusion's. Yeah, still don't know why.

I am not proud of it, not the least bit. I was actually pretty livid for a bit today.

This is getting ridicules. Every time I take a step forward I slide three back.

When I went to reconnect the motor the connection ring thingy broke off.
