Well I'll at least put down what I've read on this thread, now I've seen stuff about Wouxun (weird name) and Motorala now from the sites/forums I've read this stuff on depending on you headset/PTT set up you'd run Motorala GP68s-HT1000s the later being for more high end set ups like Silynx and Nacre (heard both bad and good things about them). Seems the popular thing it to find some MSA Sordins or Peltors and run with those.

Now I don't understand this programming deal? I understand a lot of radio systems are software based, but shouldn't they be able to run out of the box?

Wouxun or Puxing. Decided if you need dual channel monitoring and move forward from there.

All radios requiring "programming" just means that you need to tell it was frequencies you want it to save where. Most can be programmed via a computer but don't let it get to you as you can program via the unit itself. Basically using a computer just saves time as it dumps all the frequencies you assigned a channel into your radio. To make it even easier, think of it as your cell phone contacts/phone book. You can enter all the phone numbers(frequencies) and assign a contact name(channel) via the phone or do it with a computer with most phone these days. Doing it manually just takes time.

If you are in the GTA, go see techseller and I'm sure he could give you a hands-on overview tutorial on models you are interested in.

Thanks for the analogy, makes sense now I assume these radios come with the software to run off the computer? Like how one links a Ipod or another USB device to the computer for example. Whats so great about Wouxun and Puxing, I know Motorala pretty well from their hunting/kids walkie talkies (Those were awesome by the way) guess I have to do some more reading.

Also I live in the GTA (Dufferin County) so I'll give him a fly by I guess.
