Need a New Gear Set

After knowingly pushing my M4 at Rhino I stripped my bevel gear. Currently I am using 7.4v 1100Mah 15C Lipos (with a simple MOSFET) with a Guarder Infinite Torque up motor and a spring giving me 380-400fps. I purchased the gun used, it had a selector plate mod to fire semi only. I have since rebuilt it to fire in auto and pushed it too hard. What type of gear set should I install?

My goal is to not to achieve a high rate of fire I would just like the gun to fire in FA and not tare itself to death.

At my disposal I have a CA high torque motor. The shaft (sorry don’t know the official name) of the CA motor is shorter than the Guarder motor so I am a little hesitant to swap them out as I don’t know if the CA fits properly. Unfortunately I don’t know what type of piston I am running but it does have metal teeth and a silent piston head. I also have a sorbo pad that I have yet to install.

Through some skimming I think I need a set of torque up gears to match my motor. Also, from my reading I see that this gear set and motor are better for slow rate of fire guns. Should that combo be restricted to semi only/marksman type setups? Am I ok running them on a MK18 or should I change my motor as well?

What is my best course of action?

you can throw in a standard gearset... shs is not bad, especially for the price, their higher end supershooters are a step up for a bit more. You don't really need a torque gearset or a speed gearset... though pairing them up with torquey motors can create interesting trigger response (you can get faster trigger response with certain pairings)

My understanding is unless you're pulling something like a 150 spring you shouldn't need to go torque/torque. I've got a guarder infinite torque pulling a guarder sp110 (more like a 120 spring) at 400-410fps in my p90. AoE corrected with sorbo and shaved teeth off the metal rack. Fiber/nylon piston, guarder poly carb piston head. At 0 hop, it's 405ish, at game level hop it's 395~fps. The gears are shs 16:1 high speed gears. Even at 60% motorspeed I think I'm getting about 15-18 rounds per second, running a 11.1v 20c lipo. The motor is only in there temporarily as I'm waiting for a lonex a1 to replace the CA torque motor that blew up after only about 5000 rounds. I'm not sure if I caused that or if it was just a bad motor.

I'm also reading a lot of good things about lonex stuff, so if I ever blow up these shs gears, I'll probably get a set of lonex... or when I bend an axle on the CA gearset in my g36 (this is what happened in my p90 with might have caused lots of stress on the motor)... which ever comes first. :P

Actually you pair high speed gears with torque motors for the best result.

Buy this and be happy.

I'd say SHS 16:1 speed gears and the torque motor, 13:1 if you really want the trigger response. Speed gears will give you a more snappy trigger response (less spins of the bevel and spur gear to pull the sector back and release) and the torque motor will deliver instant torque (more "instant" than a Speed or standard motor) and pull as soon as you apply current to the motor increasing trigger response.

If you get the 13:1 or 16:1, let me know which you go with and what the resulting ROF is, I'm really interested in achieving a snappy trigger response without using a FET and seeing what that combination gets you (my goal for ROF is ~700 RPM, basically what an AR15 in full auto should be shooting at for the realism and not dumping a whole midcap in like 3 seconds).

Thanks for the info. Is a 13:1 faster or slower than 16:1?

You will have faster trigger response 18:1 is standard ratio

13:1 will be significantly faster. "Standard" gears are 18:1 while "torque gears" are typically 21:1, typical speed gears are 16:1. I assume you want a balance of ROF with snappiness of trigger response, in which case 16:1 with the torque motor is probably fine but you can always experiment with the 13:1 if you want.
