What is Combat 2000?
Hey guys I am looking to buy a new vest and found a PC that is Pantac/Combat 2000. Is Combat 2000 where all the Pantac gear is made in China?
Just want to make sure Pantac/Combat 2000 is REAL Pantac before i purchase. Thanks for the info! |

combat2000 = pantac, combat2000 is only for sale within China while pantac is the export version.

Same thing, 2 names - one for within China and one for exporting.
Phantom used to be related to Combat 2000, but not anymore since 2007.

I thought Phantom changed their name to Pantac? I bought a used phantom CIRAS, so I was doing some research, and couldn't find anything about "phantom" anymore, but I did find this quote from Redwolf:

The story is complicated.
Company A started with one brands, Phantom. They outsourced the manufacturing to company B. After the Phantom brand is getting some success, the company B (secretly) registered Phantom brand in Hongkong and used this brand, sell the stuff on their own. Not very good practice for manufacturers that make stuff for others. Company A was really mad at this and ended the cooperation with company B, started 2 new brands, Combat 2000 (for sell within China) and Pantac (exporting). This happened at 2007. Company A then made the announcement that they are changing the name to Pantac. The Phantom is no longer related to them. You can still found Phantom stuff on sale in China, by company B. They don't seems to do well on exporting. The story is similar to the story of Magforce and MAXGEAR. The manfucture was using the incomplete and poorly enforced trademark law in China, and the different registration of trademark in HK, Mainland China and Taiwan to take adventage over the trademark holder. I hope this is the last time such story occour... Source: Combat 2000 forum
