TM 5.1 - mag plate problems?

I recently installed one of the tsc magwell onto my TM 5.1. The problem right now i'm having it is the mag keeps falling out of the gun.

If I use the stock TM 5.1 mags, they lock in place no problem.
If I use WE brand 5.1 mags, they fall out. But if I take the mag plate out, then there isn't a problem.
So I try mix matching the TM 5.1 mag plates with the we mag, still doesn't work

Any body got any idea what to do??

Thanks!

From what you have described, it seems that the top of the base plate is a little too big for your mags to lock in place with the mag well in place. Perhaps you can try sanding very little plastic off the top of baseplate so it can lock in place.

Many lower end mag plates sit too high, and end up preventing the mag from fully inserting in to the mag well.

Yay for poor research and development... or complete lack thereof. The number of times it happens for a production level product in airsoft is completely mind boggling to me.

Sadly, there are some higher end solutions that do this as well.

For the answer I found was taking the 4.3 mag plates and using those....Not too bad of a loss.

Sorry, I just realized I'd misread the original problem. You're indicating the problem is with the magwell. I thought you were saying you'd replaced the plates.

With that said, my original statement still holds:

Sadly, there are some higher end solutions that do this as well. (including Shooters Design).

It's a simple fix that I've found, and it's to grind out the sides of the magwell. Not so much that it shows from the top - just enough to provide clearance. It will allow the mag plates to sit at the proper height. These cheap aftermarket magwells are made without any room for tolerance for the 31 round magazines. They fit fine for the extended IPSC style 170mm magazines, but won't work for setups that have mag plates that sit closer to the grip.
