Feasibility for a bb gun event @ night market

Hi community members,

I have a proposal to host a simple target shooting game with electric BB guns at the richmond night market in bc. I plan on chaining the gun down to limit the aiming range and will be providing safety glasses.

I am concerned about the legality and safety to host this event. Am I going to be violating any laws? Where should I look up on these info? Is discharge of the gun going to be illegal in the market? Are there any ways around this if this is a problem?

Thank you for your time in reading this. =)

Talk to your local By-Law office they can help you with the local laws.

No. Just no. Unless you can get special permission from city hall (and RCMP) you're violating a bunch of bylaws.

Also there's the safety and liability aspect too (you should probably carry minimum $5 Mil liability and indemnity insurance as well). Honestly I wouldn't do it if I were you.

Also, you get really shitty small stalls so you're probably going to need a couple stalls worth of space to setup a range.

EDIT: It has been done before with paintball guns at the Chinatown Festival in Vancouver but I don't know what that entailed TBH.

Thank you for ur reply. I'm still very adamant in trying to make this work. I have a section to host this, so space is not a problem. Let me know other hoops that I may have to run through if possible. I'm sure this works because pne host the crossbow and led gun games. Thanks for ur time!

By electric BB guns you mean airsoft electric guns? Because I don't think there are many electric powered, 4.5mm lead BB guns.

Spring powered or CO2 powered BB guns/pellet guns/air guns would be better for target shooting than AEGs, I think... They have better range and accuracy, and they are less likely to be seen as replica firearms...

If you want to truly learn how to do this, listen to redneck!

Ignorance is not a defense in court. Depending on your local by-laws, you could be required to have a permit or license to operate such a stall. If you don't have the required documentation, you could be shut down and fined/ticketed or charged more severely where you would have to go to court.

Are you talking Richmond night market (near Bridgeport/Casino) or Summer Night market (behind Home Depot)?

I believe someone tried setting up a stall at the Summer Night market and kind of got railroaded by the organizers and RCMP but they eventually built up a relationship with RCMP and were requires to have the guns zip tied to a display rack with trigger locks so yeah..... But that was after pretty much half the summer was over with.
