GP68 Questions

Still running a few GP68 radios. I have 4 of them that are all cloned to my master and have no issues what so ever with these ones.

Problem One:
The radio in question is not able to clone. I am getting an Error 02. I have checked the power and connection and all is good. After a few seconds I get the error code when trying to clone.

Problem Two:
The radio is not able to go into the channel mode. When I push the X button I just get a beep. Not sure how to get to channels 01-20

Problem Three:
I have the frequency searching working fine but am not able to transmit on this same radio. It can however receive transmutations from all other radios.

Thanks in advance!!!

Wish I could help, but I'm still figuring out my GP68 :P

Going to keep an eye on this though in case I ever need this information.

#1 I can PM you a PDF guide which includes cloning. Haven't needed to do it but I have instructions on doing so if you need it.
just to be sure your radio is the UHF version at 430-470 mhz? If its the VHF you'll have problems.

#2 the channels are cycled through with the middle button at the top of the radio. You'll need to program the proper frequencies in the program mode before these work. Again I have some manuals that will walk you through the programing steps and how to save the settings to the memory.

#3 As far as problem 3 it could be if your trying to transmit to a lower powered gmrs radio like a talkabout then you will need to broadcast on the proper frequency at the low power setting. If your transmitting between gp68s then it could be a distance thing you will need a minimum distance otherwise it may not pickup the transmission. I have a nearby neighbour and fellow airsofter who was testing his gp68 and had the same issue. You need to set it to the 1W setting "low" will show on the display. Make sure your squelch settings are set properly and verify that both sets are set to the same frequency.

If all those steps fail to do the trick reset it to the factory defaults and set it up the same once again.

The channel/frequency is the x button but its not working. All the dials and knobs for frequency selection are working fine. I'm wondering if the one I got used is in fact a VHF and that's why it won't clone with the others.

I'm transmitting between my 4 gp68's in the same room to test with no luck on the one radio.

I'm fairly familiar with these radios, thanks for the reply but none of those suggestions are helping the issues I posted.

If your PDF offers more info I'd like to take a read. Mine covers most issues but none that have worked yet. Ill pm my email if you can email the PDF you have. It may be different then mine.

Cheers

Why does the VHF version is bad compared to the UHF one? Yes, it's a noob question, sorry.

UHF broadcasts in the 400-480 Mhz MHz range.
VHF broadcasts in the 136-174 Mhz MHz range.

If your trying to broadcast on the GMRS/FRS radio frequencies you need to be able to transmit to frequencies in the 460-470 ranges.

Here's a brief explanation with frequency chart of the channel frequencies : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Radio_Service

Hope that makes some more sense of it. I'm no radio pro but that's about as simple as I can explain it.
