which vest?
ok so i made an order on a large retailer online for me and a friend. in the order we got 2 condor elite vests. one of them is dark olive green and the other is lighter ACU style digi camp. when i placed the order I was unsure of which to get and so was he so we decided to order one of each and then make a choice.
We played paper, rocks, scissors to see who gets first pick and as luck would have it I won. Now I am hard pressed to decide on which one to pick. I really like the ACU because I just think it looks bad ass, but the Olive green looks like it would blend better outdoors. If it were you which would you choose and why? |

Do you already have a BDU? Pick the on that matches your BDU...
If you don't, ACU indoors, or on the side of an Afghan mountain, OD outdoors... |

no BDU yet. got the vests first, there was an amazing sale so we just had to do it.
if i take the ACU style camo would i stick out like a sore thumb in the forrest? |

A solid colour vest will go with pretty much any type of camo.
However IMO airsoft is about having fun so pick which ever you like better.

A solid OD vest will work decently with any green camo.
As for ACU, it's mainly for U.S. Army fanboys, and makes you look like an idiot almost anywhere in Canada. What ACU is for What ACU is NOT for |

a) ACU does not match our forrest environments. b) being a US army fanboy looks stupid in canada. |

It doesn't match our environment. Just look at the picture above. For indoors it would work. For outdoors however, it's just not practical, you stick out like a sore thumb. Unless.. I don't know, you were standing in front of a huge birch tree..

Wearing UCP in Canada is like wearing temperate woodland CADPAT in a desert. It was made to work in the mountains of Afghanistan, and has already been cancelled, declared a colossal mistake by the U.S. Army and being phased out and replaced.

Even Belgium has a pattern that sucks less.

It's really a matter of personal preference. As you said, the green blends better outdoors. There isn't really a pattern that "works" for CQB since you encounter all of the colours in the rainbow and your main goal should not be to blend in. If you're asking for opinions the consensus will be to choose green.
Something to consider is that the green vest will "match" with almost any bdu you chose. The UCP aka ACU really only matches one bdu. Last edited by Kozzie; January 30th, 2013 at 02:09.. |

Personally I would pick the OD vest any day of the week. The great thing about a solid color like OD is that it will match pretty much any green based camouflage pattern well, and even some others like multicam.
Sure it may not offer the concealment capabilities of a camouflage pattern meant for a specific type of environment but it will work well in most environments we have. We are only talking about a vest here though so really it's not much of an issue. As for my argument against UCP, well personally I just hate the patten because it doesn't have much use. The other big thing that most of the others have mentioned is that you will stick out like a sore thumb in anything but colored light environments. Not to mention the US Army is starting to phase it out because they realized they made a mistake choosing it because it is garbage for the role of a "universal camo" they wanted to fill. |

ACU is a cut of uniform.
It's called UCP RAGE But ya UCP is gone. 5 Billion Dollar mistake. Irregardless OD or Coyote Brown are you best Vest choices for colour. Everything else is interchangeable Multicam FTW Seriously. |
