My Nam kit

Many months, and many dollars later, here is my US Vietnam kit, minus insignia (have it, just haven't attached it quite yet). Although there are still a few things I need to complete the impression, the basic mission load-out is complete. Sorry about the crappy pictures, and not to mention the crappy backround, but I didn't feel like scaring the neighbors, and I was in a hurry to get out of the blistering heat...

Holy shit...troop!

We're gonna pull you off point and send you to hang out with the LT in the rear. He's a good guy, won't give you latrine duty unless you try to frag his hooch.

I'm impressed. Your gear makes mine looks like a jarhead fresh in from the world.

Rock on mate

Where did you find the Mag pouches and how much did you pay? Looks great.

P.S. Is that the CAW wood kit?

Highly incoherent question...but I understand nonetheless...i've never been a huge armalite fan and I know the Thompson was not exactly the most common weapon, so to answer your question I may, in the future, get an M16VN...but we shall see...in fact i'd much prefer an M14...

Kokanee: Ski trip to Jay Peak, managed to convince my mother to buy me a pack...

FNG: I got both the pouches off of Ebay, I think I paid 15 for one and maybe around 25 for the other (just my luck, soon after I got the second, Moore's [ www.mooremilitaria.com ] started carrying them, NOS for $40 US) and yes, it is indeed the CAW wood kit.

Stick with the tommy, it looks sick. You should pick up a Chicom chest rig so you can gear down slightly for those hotter days and still be able to rock and roll.

They're great, they hold tommy mags awesomely.

gotta second that - my chicom comes in handy for hauling around my ak mags without causing you to stroke out or something on a hot day

very nice, the m14 wouldn't be a bad addition, but wouldnt the marines pre-'67 and black soldiers have used them? as opposed to GI's post '67 that were issued the M16A1's?

not meaning to be racist or anything, but from the photo's i've seen, it seems as though blacks were more commonly seen with m14's and whitey was found with more armalites.

That may depend on the date difference between the photos aswell as the various units. Some units stuck to the M14, while many went the M16 route. The Marines used the M14s for a long time into the war. Generally, the M14's were more reliable then the M16s, so as far as the racism thing goes it would make much more sense for white supremacists to use the M14s rather then the M16s.

The draft, especially Project 100k, brought in a LOT of uneducated, racist southerners and there was definately some rough times in country just by skin colour, there were a few wars going on in those times. All in one country.

They really *did* get the "hicks, spicks, and n*ggers" to fight their war for them, didn't they?

Tragedy personified, but respect to your unit for commiting to an accurate portrayal of the units, i'd love to game with you guys one of these days.
