downtown toronto airsofters?

so i bought my first rifle and sidearm over the holidays and they're still cold!

would love some tips on how to get my feet wet.

If you just want to try out your guns, in a walk-on game, check out Ultimate Airsoft (www.ultimateairsoft.ca), near Downsview Park.

Some Friday nights, TTAC3 has a game, in a building space located at Ossington and Dupont - keep an eye in the Ontario events section, as a post announcing if there will actually be a game on Friday, will be posted there.

Other than UA and TTAC3, most games are organized at outdoor locations.

do either ttac3 or UA allow one to drop in unannounced to get chronoe'd (honestly, i don't even know how fast my guns shoot!) and age verified? or is that something one would have to make an appointment for?

Brian can AV you at TTAC3 but his games run on limited numbers so he required a sign up.
UA I think has an AVer on premises, I don't recall, but they run games usually without a signup unless its a special event. Games run daily except for Mondays and Tuesdays.
Both will require you to crony your gun before use.

TTAC3 requires you to post in, before showing up.
UA is a walk on field, so you can show up anytime that they're open.

so….i just clocked in my guns. my sidearm levelled off at around 330 fps, but my AEG shoots at 370 fps and over - not indoor friendly.

here's my question. what are then some good outdoor games in the area? i was looking at Hill 437, are there other fields like that around here?

I don't believe that there's any outdoor airsoft walk-on fields in the GTA. Generally it's just wherever people schedule a game.

Some fields have closed down, or will be used less, and some people have acquired new land to play on. I can't really give a list of outdoor fields that will be popping up this season, but keep an eye in that subforum for events.

You can look back over some old posts in there, to see where the common fields are, though.

For CQB, a lot of people find that a sidearm is all you need. Because it really is all that you need. Rolling with a primary is just to add extra fun if you're into it.
If you're hesitant to try an indoor game because you only have your pistol, I strongly recommend you try gaming with JUST your pistol. It's a lot of fun.

UA will let you do a walk around of the field as well. You can bring your primary out on the field, and see how difficult it is to maneuver corners and stuff, compared to your secondary.

so do people who play indoor games a lot have their guns downgraded then? i actually remember one of the guys at Toronto Airsoft say that by law they are required to sell guns at OVER 360 fps.

Once owned you can make it fire 2fps if you wanted and it'd be legal

ok, so now i guess i'm just gonna go ahead and ask you guys - what do YOU personally run for airsofting? do you have a rifle you have specifically for indoor, and another rifle reserved for outdoors?

Doing a downgrade on a spring in a gearbox isn't too difficult. Watch a youtube video, follow along, and you should be able to do it without much problem.
...Maybe do that once you've got a backup gun, though.

Most people seem to run a separate gun for indoor vs outdoor (that's what I usually do), both to save work on downgrading the gun, as well as for the gun's size. For example, it's not as much fun to go around a corner with a full length M4, as it is to come around with something like a P90.

There are some AEGs with quick-change, or easy-change springs or upper half of the gear box, but those aren't very common.

Gas blowbacks (GBBRs) have a functional bolt, similar to a real gun, that can adjust their velocity - either by modifying or swapping a valve, or loosening/tightening something for a quick adjust. Or, you can just have a separate bolt that you drop into your gun. I use the separate bolt method as well.

So in summary, the easiest and most common thing to do is to have a separate gun for indoors and outdoors - both to save the work of swapping the spring at the beginning and end of every season, as well as to have two different form factors in your weapons.
