Nice to them to change the gearbox and hopup! Why didn't they do it right in the first place.

By the sounds of it it should be better then the first CA m249. It had 7mm bushings didn't it?

And hopefully the hop up means it can't be adjusted way too far causing easy jam ups.

Nice! I think the first one had 8mm bearing bushings (one siezed on me when I was working on it, wouldn't release the bevel gear and had to be pried off, luckily I was able to rebuild it!)

Problem with the para stock is where to put a large battery without going for a battery bag. 8.4V mini battery ain't gonna last too long, or have a decent rate of fire with upgraded spring, which is bad for a support weapon.

cant u just switch stocks from the regular M249 with the para so u get the better mech-box and hop-up.

I'm guessing foregrip should be able to hold an AUG-style battery... 2500mAh, 9.6V, not bad I'd say. If not, I'd say this is definitely the ideal candidate for a LiPoly battery.

All the other M249's have these upgrades as well now. Just the first batch of 249's has the old stuff.

Well the TOP guns hold the 9.6v Aug battery in the foregrip just fine so don't see why the CA wouldn't.

Not to mention the box mag. Many people put the battery in there as well.

Careful! LiPos typically have low discharge rates. The greatest one I saw was a 2000 mAh with a 6C discharge capacity, meaning it could put out six times its mAh rating or 12 amps continuously. Last time I tested my stock TM AK it drew 16 amps in full auto on 7.2V (higher voltages will = less current draw). With lithium batteries, drawing more amps than they can provide = BAD.

If anyone knows of a LiPo that can discharge 20 amps continuously I'd be very interested to know about it! Been interested in the technology and would like to see it applied to airsoft.

Yes, I realize that a lot of those are out of stock... they also have 10C and 15C packs that are stocked more frequently.

By my calculations, that 3700mAh should be able to put out about 75 amps at 14.8V. Show me a gun that needs more than that =P

That 3700 mAh pack is only 16mm thick. Sandwich a few together and run them in parallel to get over 11,000 mAh!

Thought I'd clear up some misinformation on that advertisement.

The "new design" items in the product listing are the same items as advertised on other CA flyers as "new design" for the MkII M249 CA released. They are "new design" over CA's other guns. This version has nothing new over the MkII aside from the stock and the Feedtray cover. The Gear Box and the Hop Up Chamber and the Spring Guide are identical to the existing MkII. I own a MkII and have poked thru the guts of the Para in person and the two are part for part identical twins. The Stocks and Feedtray covers are interchangable with MkIIs, btw.

I've got about 50-60,000 rounds thru mine with some hard skirmish abuse and have had zero problems. It shoots well over 400fps (.2g) using a systema M120 spring, and the only part I've replaced to date is the hopup bucking (with a systema part), and only then due to the fact that I myself mauled it during one of my teardown cleanings. Never run it with anything less than a 9.6v 3000mah battery and 20,000 of those 60k rounds have been with the M120 spring in it. Everything else is bone stock and rocking and rolling. Granted I take very good care of it, including cleaning and lubrication. But if you're going to buy a support gun and not take care of it, then you can't moan when things break. The CA MkII is the best support AEG made to date, IMO (yes I cuddle with it at night).

Personally, I haven't experienced any problems with the regular 249 from one of the earlier batches. It's been shooting great so far, probably 10-15K rounds through it already.

I have to say, though, these are quite well built (externally). Somone (not to mention any names *coughRaiDencough*

) at the last Wasaga game took a nose dive with my 249 barrel first. No damages to the gun, which was a pleasant surprise.

But the bipod hinges suck, the teeth is already starting to eat away.
