COSTA in JAPAN

Here's a little something for the Costa fanboys.

For those who missed it, Costa was invited over to Japan for "Peace Combat Fes 2015" back in January, which ended up with the whole #Costagate thing after his runway video went sorta viral.

Anyways, Hyperdouraku has some Costa game footage from Sabage Park and Camp Devgru that some of you guys might enjoy. There's a couple of Japanese airsoft personalities some of you guys might recognize as well at the Camp Devgru game.

Costa in Japan - Sabage Park

Costa in Japan - Camp Devgru

Added the runway photo op vid for those who haven't seen it.

PS. Anyone recognize the chest rig on the guy running the OD hoodie, tan pants from the 1:15 mark onwards at the Camp Devgru game? Thought it was an Ares Armor slim chest rig but the straps aren't correct.

people took his runway antics out of context... they didn't even know WHERE the video was taken so they were bitching that he was being unsafe...
it's an airsoft gun at an airsoft convention in a country where real firearms are completely illegal and you can buy airsoft guns in department stores.

I thought it was hilarious, I'm not sure what he was making of the whole experience.+

edit

btw the links are to the same video... think you goofed the paste.

Yeah, reading through a lot of the American firearms community comments, people just straight comment w/o looking into the back story.

What he was making out the experience? A whole lotta $$$ lol

Thanks, links fixed :P

Well it seemed to me he felt a bit weirded out. I don't think he's that well traveled. lol, so running into otaku culture seemed to make him realize a couple things over the course of his trip if you watch some of the interviews after the fact. But I think he got lost in the moment with so many people wanting their personal photo of costa doing a costa thing.

He mentions it in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVDeFYSabH0

When you're a guest, it's sorta impolite to refuse. I think he did the right thing, they brought him over to do exactly what he did.

Even the people who did know it was airsoft, they still ragged on him for misrepresenting firearms safety... I dunno, when you're in a different culture and they are perfectly fine with what you're doing, what's the big deal if you are able to differentiate between the 2 worlds of real firearms and toys.

He had a Facebook post about his visit to Japan. It was a nice read and it was indeed a different environment for him. Again what lurking said, different culture, different views.

It's Japan. Firearm safety is something which one doesn't really need to learn at all, unless they work in law enforcement.
Guns are ever rarely used, and even the highest of Yakuza does not carry one. If he/she did have a gun, it would be for power and respect. They will not use the gun. They live by the blade.

I love how so many people immediately jumped to the conclusion that captain firearm safety trainer was pointing a loaded gun at a bunch of people in an unsafe manner lol

Added it to the post.

Firearms safety nazis really over do it a lot of the time, I mean its understandable you want to promote good safety practices, but in some situations its not warranted or needed.

Costa was running an airsoft gun for a photo op, which I doubt had batteries or was even loaded up. Its not even a real firearm, and its perfectly acceptable in that situation, I mean its not even close to the shit you see all those rednecks doing on youtube, go have a field day there.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on in the picture from the first post, but that looks like the most uncomfortable way to hold an AR I've ever seen...

The original runway vid is in the channel the 2 game vids are in I think. You can see on his face when he loses himself in the moment. Its pretty funny he goes from apprehension to fuck it.

The way he's bracing the rifle is actually an old technique adapted to modern systems.
You'd do that for accuracy in long shots from a fixed position using the rifle's sling as a brace, he's just adapted it to use the mag in place of a sling. Smart development IMO.

Cliffradical, I see what you mean now...
Now that I think about it, this position doesn't seem so bad when you have time to place your shots.
