Prometheus 6.03 Stainless Tightbore 363mm

Hey everyone,

So I just ordered a Prometheus 6.03 Stainless Tightbore, and having never replaced an inner barrel before, I just have a couple questions.

I should mention the Tightbore is going on an ICS M4A1 (Full metal) rifle (Dual split gearbox).

Based on the research I've been doing, do I need to:

A) Completely disassemble the hop up to replace the inner barrel?

OR

B) Turn the hop up all the way up and physically pull the inner barrel out (and swap pieces)?

Should also add I haven't tinkered with the hop up once yet, not even to modify it's BB trajectory.

Swapping the barrel is pretty easy. Take the C clip off, and turn the hop up unit upside down so the nub doesn't fall out after the barrel is out. Pull out the original barrel, take the rubber and slide the sleeve over your new barrel. Put the new barrel in, stick the C clip on and look through the barrel while turning the wheel to make sure everything still works.

In the case of an ICS hop-up, if you move/drop the nub by accident, only remove the cross-pin that holds the adjustment arm in place.

Even replacement hop-up units come with the dial ring already clipped, no need to remove it.

But yeah, basically set hop-up to zero, then remove barrel clip and pull the barrel. Sometimes you need to slightly twist it as it gets out because the rubber is stuck to the chamber. Not much more than 1/16 of a turn each way.

I'm highly tempted to pick this up, even though my current hop up is working fine lol. That being said who sells this? Had time to do a quick search and I couldn't find anything local

Looks like they are, don't see the metal version of it though

Metal is not always good..

The stock ICS hop-up is by far the best M4-type hop-up system out there.
Making it metal is not needed, it works fine in plastic.

Metal does not flew, plastic does. Flex lets the part sit right when not everything is perfect, and seals better...

So tightbore came in - did the swap and for the life of me I'm not sure if I did it correctly. I made sure the hop up was upside at all times when removing and inserting the new barrel. However after everything was said and done, when I turned the wheel, the wheel it self turned however looking down the barrel I couldn't see the nub pushing down, tested it turning both ways, from different angles etc. Unless I just can't tell or the nub fell out (which I highly doubt). The little hole on the outside shows if the wheel is working, which it is, when I turn it I can see the trigger pushing down. However, when looking down the barrel, I can't make out the nub. I might take it in somewhere here to get a professional to look at it - just in case. Planning on going in the next few days

Sounds like you might have lost the cylindrical nub that goes on the arm. If you find it, you can just roll it in and guide it with a small screwdriver or something.

with the hop up upside down, and the c clip off, do you see a straight line cut in the barrel? If you don't the barrel is upsidedown.

Just took it apart - good news is the nub wasn't missing. Bad news is the nub wasn't in its proper place. Going to try and fix it right meow!

Hah! Won't believe my own luck but I actually managed to fix it. Getting that nub in absolutely perfectly is an absolute b*tch, but I figured it out in the end! Tested the wheel and she's working beautifully. Now to test it out! Thanks for your help

Metal does not flew, plastic does. Flex lets the part sit right when not everything is perfect, and seals better...

The metal one is better, it has a slightly different design with less pieces, I bought two of them right from the link that i posted- just contact them (by email) and they will work with you. Sadly our dollar is low right now and two hop ups shipped quickly to my house cost $ 68
