Electric Shotguns

Has anyone ever tried to make one something like an automatic super 90? Do you think it could be done? Or would this just not work at all due to gearbox contraints, bad idea in general...?

Could be done.. possibly.. anyhting can be done in reality if enough money is involved.. Havent ever heard of anyone trying it. and cant really see it, seeing as it defeats the purpose of the pump action.

No

Isn't the whole point of a shotgun to pump it and fire out a spread of plastic death? Other then the Maurzen CA870.

No. I'm thinking something along the lines of a Pancor Jackhammer. Spread of three BBs but at the rate of fire of an electric. Possibly a real mag, not shells.

Well Maruzen makes a few semi automatic gas shotguns that uses magazines instead of shells. The Maruzen M1100 Defender comes to mind. So you'd be looking at something like that, only with an electric mechbox powering it. But you'd need a mechbox small enough to fit in a shotgun frame.

Would something like a ver. 7 mechbox fit at all?

and how would you get around the fact you just slapped a gearbox into a shotgun frame. so basicly its a AEG in a shotgun frame. Now if you can get it to shoot at least 3 rounds in a spread pattern then you would have something.

V7 gearbox are you nuts? Destroying a M14 for a gearbox shame on you...!

Well a Super 90 is semi auto (which can be switched to pump action on the M3 model I belive), so it would be interesting... Especially if you can incorporate that system... on the airsoft gun that had a switch from AEG to Springer? Umm HK33 I think?

Cheers,
Alex

I think the development of the AEP will make electric-powered, multiple-BB-firing shotguns a reality some day. Probably not anytime soon, though. You'd be looking at a very powerful pistol and spring to be able to drive 3+ BBs down the same number of the barrels at a reasonable fps.

Just out of curiousity, though, is it technically possible to engineer reliable BB retension and hopup mechanisms to intentionally allow more than one BB to be fired per barrel? Currently the TM shotties can be mod'd to do that, but it destroys the gun rather quickly as it's not designed for it. What happens if you do design a shotty for that?

Maybe not destroy an M14 just for the gearbox, but maybe "borrow" it for a time and treat it real nice doing the Frankensteining that I would have to do.

Good point Saint, I never thought about AEPs, but it is a feat of engineering of getting a motor, battery and mag (not matter how ridiculous it looks) into a very small frame.

Do you think that maybe a gearbox from an AEP could fit into a Super 90, and modded to work the shotgun?

Maybe three small AEP motors, on one very large, high mAh battery?

Keep it all the same like in a TM shotty. The tapper plate moves the three nozzles instead of the one. A bigger bore and a three head cylinder head and you are good to go.

Can also be switched to manual mode which it should work the same way.

Bigger spring with the bigger bore. Use torque up gears and use semi only. Should be quite a nice room clearer. Could emtpy the shotshell in under a sec on full auto(spas)

Maybe a PSG mechbox since you can cock a PSG or one of those KSC HK33? Whatever they are called, the one that you can cock manual and automaticaly

What about an automatic GAS powered shotgun? inserting the internals from a m93r into a shotty, the 93r shoots in 3 round bursts yes?
