Got my first AEG today! Wicked cool! I'm still waiting for my battery to arrive Grrr :-x
I do have a question for you modders out there. I'm planning on getting a red dot scope... should I go with a low profile mount or one that allows the scope to sit a bit higher?

See ya... got to go stare at it more.

Put on some paintball goggles and see what kind of height you need to see the RDS comfortably and naturally, that'll be your best test if you want a high mount or a low mount... or you can go the other route and just get something that looks really cool Those claw mounts are pretty sweet on mp5s, they're usually pretty high too.

^ What he said.

Personally, I'd say a higher mount would probably be your best bet, simply because it'll give you clearance when wearing goggles, and like he said, the claw mounts look sexy.

higher scope mount could be good for eye relief but you may lose accuracy a bit. Also i think thAt low profile mounts have a nicer look and feel on the gun.

I saw a Dual Picatinny MP5/G3 Scope Mount on Airsoft Atlanta. It's only about $30 US and it would allow me to mount other gadgets. Anyone use one of these before?

Is that a veiled compliment to my MP5?

I have an MP5 with a clawmount and he is absolutely right. I find it difficult to use iron sights with my pb mask/goggles and I can only imagine that a low rise mount would be the same.
Don't forget that it may obstruct your view of the iron sights. Some people care more than others.

I'll say. Should have bought an ICS one or something. But I guess you don't care for metal. Or you do and you are gonna spend hundreds making it that way.

Either way, , at least now you can shoot stuff.

aren't the TM stock internals better though? So either way he'd have to spend money upgrading something...

p.s. does Airsoft Atlanta ship to Canada?

That's what ppl say, for the last 2 years, I've spent less that 100 bux to fix my TM gun, I think that's a lot cheaper than getting a TM one and then upgrade it the other way around.

This is true. The release lever on the right side of the mount gets depressed way to easily. I've had my scope fall off on numerous occasions (on carpet fortunately). There are two contact points (claws) that connect the mount/gun and are padded by some light foam. This foam is not thick enough. I padded it with some electrical tape and it is much more secure. Its a bit harder to get on but at least it stays on.
Alternatively, Ive seen people remove the release lever all together.
