WE M4 Open Bolt - Jamming/Feeding Issues
I picked up a used WE M4 Open Bolt that had a cracked nozzle (the crown was broken from a BB Jam)
i replaced the nozzle with a new one and within a mag or two the same thing happened again. I broke a brand new air nozzle. The gun will now consistently jam every other mag and it results in the mag expelling all gas and me having to remove a jammed BB .. mashed into the hop up unit. I've taken everything apart and cleaned/lubed the entire bolt assembly. The path of the bolt to the BB.. to the hop up unit is clear and aligned. When i pull back the bolt with a loaded mag in the gun and slowly allow the bolt to move forward i can see that the nozzle feed arm is hitting the BB fine and 'should' be chambering the round but it seems to pick it up from the Mag and just throw it around the breech.. only sometimes the BB makes it's way into the hop up unit itself. (I've read that the nozzle crown is purely cosmetic but I've also read that it's used to help chamber the BB? Is this true?) I have exhausted all options here.. i am ready to replace the entire bolt/hop up assembly with new steel parts. One thing i've noticed is the bolt itself has a rather large indent where the hammer engages with the bolt.. Would this indent in the bolt cause the bolt assembly to be off enough to cause consistent bb jams? should i just buy a WE Open bolt kit and replace everything with WE stock parts or make the investment is steel upgrade parts? Two fold I guess, going all steel upgrade parts will cost you a bit.
Could always toss the WE and upgrade to a GHK /ghkbias alternative, see your costs, since CAD is low, you may not find everything you need here in Canada, so... if it's going to run you 400+, I would just upgrade my platform.. personal preference. Else you can go the cheaper route and use the open bolt kit and replace everything. |

TB barrels on a GBBR push my FPS through the roof and i can't use the gun anywhere.. even with an npas installed on my Scar i can't get the FPS below 400 with a TB installed.

Well all gbb and aegs are will break, just depends on the usage and such... gbbr has more wear and tear, as expected.. and WE is low on the QC end, so it's expected.
Try the OB KIT, if it fails and your gun messes up again, it's either a) you installed stuff incorrectly B) you're doing it wrong, c) sell it. I converted Cav from his WE 416 & M4 CQBR to a GHK M4, and his WE PMC and 74UN to a GHK 74UN. I've known several people who have had issues on the WE platform, and people who haven't, seems it's a hit or miss, but that's just based on what I've seen. My WE 416's and SCARS never had issues, only issues I ever had were on the bolt lock with them.. oh and the MSK I had was cancer, so... I won't go near them again, oh and their performance during winter time, but whatever. anyways rant over, good luck mate. |

Lol... yea i have a WE SCAR and L85 and so far they are solid work horses.
All suffer from that bolt lock but that just gave me something to do on a Tuesday night.. simple mod and now all guns lock bock like tanks. the M4 is my first M4 GBBR and it seems more fragile than the scar and l85.. i just ordered up the open bolt kit... i think that i just need a new bolt or hop up unit.. too much mis-alignment now due to bb's smashing up on the inside.. mistake here was not buying a WE product but a second hand WE Product!! oh well.. |

I posted this in another thread. The nozzle guides are held in cheaply. On the stock bolt carrier. It's aluminum Nd the threads strip easily. I had the same problem. I basically just used a steal screw on the top guide. "Re threaded" and drilled out the guide. But to bs able to countersink the screw. Works flawlessly now. Eventually I'll steel the who internals but till then. Weeeeeeeee
