Are the US guys still using that M203/M16 heatshield? I was under the assumption that pretty much everything is railed now.

Yes. That is noticable, unless it is angle, but the early VN M16 didn't have a charging handle. Just added after to make it easier to clear constant jams without having to take down the gun.
