TM 5.1 front sight

I was just wondering if anyone could offer me some insight on how to best install the front sight back onto my gun, i recently installed a PGC metal slide along with a new loading muzzle (cause i cracked my original :S) now everything is back together and in good working order, except for the sights, the rear sight as i was installing it i pushed it in with some elbow grease and it just popped in, it stopped dead centre on the slide ,perfect. but with the front sight i i tried pushing it in the same way but it got stuck so i pulled it sanded it and tried again, now after several attempts it is almost there and is under one sights width away from centre but appears to be stuck, what would be the best way to tap it in without damaging the slide or sight?

first get a small metal punch with a small flat tip, then place your gun on something soft yet sturdy,
if you like you could put something between the sight and punch(like a small peice of rubber) to stop from scracthes.
then just tap it lightly until it fits.
remember tap a tap a tap a.

*edit* i just remembered, the small metal rod that comes with the 5.1 would probably work just as good.
