Gun Doctors, What do you charge?
I'm curious as to what fee's/rates do " gun doctors " from across Canada Charge.
This thread isn't for judging costs or to see who is cheapest/most expensive, just wanting to see the variation in costs and see if there is an average. I'm looking for costs for gun issue diagnosis, hourly rates for upgrades/fixes, not so much custom machining or anything that is out of the ordinary.

I only work on spring and gas guns. But it depends on if its a samll job like filing and lubing and such or if its installing mulitple parts and such. I generally dont charge much at all 20 bucks for small 35 bucks if i have to spend a couple of hours doing stuff. Im not realy in it to make a profit just to make sure my teams guns are up and running.

Free.
[rant] If someone is going to charge you money for putting a spring in your gun your getting ripped big time. There is nothing complicated about these airsoft guns, just the hype on every thread is "take it to a doctor". But if your dumb enough to mess up a stock gun with upgrades then maybe your dumb enough to pay somebody to fix it for you. [/rant] I'll add something else, if someone offers you $$ to do a simple job then take it. |

Thats great guys.....but.....the thread is to deal with what is charged, not opinions on if the practice is valid. Please...pretty please keep the thread on topic so I don't have to clean my own thread.....

Well my time isn't free and while there may be not alot of difficulty in upgrading a mech box to sub 400fps, there's the whole assembly/disassembly of the gun and on some guns this can be quite labour and time intensive. How much is an hour of your time worth? If your time is worth nothing is your job worth nothing? At work I charge people a $30 fee per incident for out of warranty support, even if it's as simple as telling the caller to plug the unit into the wall. Why? because time is money and the company I work for is not a charity. I'm not a charity and my time is precious to me. And to stay on topic, I don't have a set rate on what an upgrade costs, it depends on the job, but usualy somewhere in the neighbourhood of $20 an hour unless it's the result of boneheadedness, then the rate doubles. |

$20-25 if parts are provided and free for small parts that needs modification. $45 if I provide the parts(spring, bushing and free for small parts that needs modification).

$60/hour.
Time is money, and my time isn't free. I wouldn't give it to some random guy for free when I could be getting paid for my time by doing my actual work. |

Zero is a pay rate.
Try from this view. In atlantic province we have limited players. If one guys gun is not working he can't play. Less people = less fun. At some games I, and I am not the only one, have torn down peoples guns and fix them in the field on the spot. I would love to meet the person who would pay someone 60$ an hour to work on an airsoft gun.... maybe if he was machining it out on a CNC mill and it is a one of a kind part, even still maybe. |

Im doing 7 courses and 6 labs along with the amry thing so my time is very limited. So if im going to say fuck it to doing some studying i owuld like to be slightly compensated for my time. If its at a game ill be the first person to tear someones gun down to keep them in the game.

I don't think the money I charge for my time and knowledge leaves any of my customers feeling like they've been "getting ripped". I average about 2 hours for a simple M4 mechbox upgrade, and a lot of that is spent cleaning, inspecting parts, and answering questions. The time I spend on other people's guns is less time I can spend with my family, and I should be compensated for it. Like Brian, I don't work for free, but sometimes when a buddy needs something done ASAP and I have free time I'll do it for nothing.

Yes time isn't free and repairs are the worst sometimes. Repairing, Upgrading and Renting is my part time job on top of full time College.
As much as I want to do it for free, I got a pile up of work here. And I only do AEGs and springers. Wes at XP does Gas guns and I don't even know what rate he charges. Do it yourself if you want but if you screw up and bring a box/bag of parts to me, I won't be lenient cuz it's a lot more work than necessary to fix someone's mistakes. Especially when there is a few missing screws, spring, pin, plate, hopup nub or latch in your great big house. http://www.3quip.com/ Ya friends, team and club players sometime get my special deals. Especially when they are on my team I need their guns to work at 100%
