Opinions on mixed digi camo

I have CADPAT BDU's and am going to make most of my own gear (simple stuff, nothing too complex) and I have MARPAT and ACU digital camo fabric already and for the life of me cannot find CADPAT raw fabric anywhere.

So I was going to make my gear out of one of the two but was wondering if anyone had anything bad to say about mixed camo in this manner. Is it frowned upon or is it general perfectly fine?

And "just buy CADPAT stuff" is not a solution as that comes with a high price tag for all the stuff I want and money is something in short supply at the moment (can afford $40 for fabric and thread but not $500 for a full set of gear) its not realistic.

Personally MARPAT seems to match CADPAT better than the ACU, but I have more of the ACU, so I'm not sure what I'm doing at the moment.

Thanks

I realy like the look of mixed como buts thats more for woodland and desert. I don't no if it realy would work with dige camo. You could alwas make the gear and if it don't work you could alwas get some Marpat.

Okay, should have been more clear in my original post...

My pants/jacket/bookie are all CADPAT, its my vest/droplegs that are going to be ACU or MARPAT, leaning more towards ACU at the moment...may do some photoshopping adding the different camo textures to a pic of someone wearing similar enough gear...

Does anyone have anything against that or think it would just be weird/wrong?

Oh, and I'm doing a complete CADPAT job on my G3/SG1 like the one ASC member did to some real steel bolt action rifles a while back, dont remember the name though.

So just picture it in your head, would it be weird? Would it still be effective camo? Or would the differences/contrast between the two make me easier to see?

I'd be more worried about the fact that making gear out of regular material will give it zero life span rather than camo mixing.

To answer your question though I think the marpat would go with cadpat alot better than acu, especially in wooded locations.

In the end your question is more of personal preferance than anything, I don't see any need to care what other players think of your kit as long as you like it and it works that's all that realy matters.

Before CADPAT became available to some manufacturers, they were using Jungle Stalker pattern. You may want to look into this pattern.

I don't really like mixing the 2 patterns but IMO, it'll still work.

Why would you consider using a TW top and pants as mixing? Too much porn for you bud.

I'm using 1000D CORDURA and heavy duty double stitching using heavy weight synthetic thread, so the only difference between my stuff and the stuff from stores is the construction quality (due to experience), materials are almost the same. Thats assuming I use the ACU, the MARPAT I have is just the standard cotton/polyester mix, thus my preference for ACU.

I know its mostly personal preference, but my worry was people would look at me, roll their eyes, and not take me seriously.

Let your gun do the talking, not your camo.

With camo, color is a secondary issue. The way camo acutally works is by disrupting the patterns that animals (including us) use to identify shapes. Digital camos use this by enhancing random occurance of color and shapes.

Unless you're using CADPAT in the Arctic snow, most any camo works well in our Canadian environments.

If your looking for the raw material for Cadpat (CORDURA) and the TW Cadpat fabric give me a PM as I can put you in contact with someone who has it.

If I was making my own gear to use with cadpat, I'd go OD all the way (hey, just realized I have OD webbing). Hehe, ya, it goes great with it. Be cool to find something that will work well with both arid and temperate camo.

People wear one kneepad when they prefer to kneeling on a given knee. If they've played long enough to develop a preference or know that they never use their left knee, why wear the extra bulk?
