Multicam-ish M4S
done with spray cans and masking. im waiting for another m4 to be delivered so that i can swap the painted parts on that gun and paint the upper as well. personally i think its a little too light for woodland(needs darker green and medium brown) but amazing in urban enviro's. let me know what you guys think. |

thanks guys, for those who asked heres a basic how to for this scheme, you can elaborate on the masking and colors to get a better match for multicam.
this was the base colors before masking first step is to paint the base colors, i used the fade paintjob as my base. if you want the base dark colors non faded just put down a single color of paint. if you want the gradient changes in the colors put a different layers of paint in various strokes around the first dark color. as you can see from the pic my base color has od green, black and tan. the base colors will be the small blobs on the camo scheme. once you have the base colors you will need to do some masking. the masking is the most important aspect of this paintjob and will make or break the final product. you need to carefully mask the colors off, first mask some areas where there are changes in colors, then mask areas where there are only single colors. remember to mask in small spots as shown in the pic above. after the first layer of masking is on you can spray the gun with two or more colors. spray to cover fairly large areas and make sure you have good gradient changes in the colors. the paint color should be lighter than the base colors. i chose to use a light-ish green and a gray. with the second layer of painting done its time to get back to more masking. mask the areas off where the colors start to meet to get the color fade effect but this time make the mask blobs much larger than earlier. also make sure to mask some areas where there are solid colors (no fading), these masks should be small to medium sized like the ones for the base colors. finally lay down you final color (i put on the lightest color last) all over the gun. if you want to you can spray few strokes of another color on top of that to get a fade in the final colors. i sprayed a few strokes of the same light green i used earlier. let the paint dry a bit then start peeling the masking tape off the gun. your final product should look something like what is shown above. to finish it all off use a scrubbing pad (green one to wash dishes with) to level the paint. scrub lightly you dont want to gouge your new paintjob. heres a newer version of the multicamish paintjob. |
