Maruzen MP5K w/ UMP-ish stock mod writeup (pics added!)

I havent posted on here for ages.. and sorta like airsoft as a small past time.. but nevertheless... i still have guns. So here is my writeup.. thought id contribute a lil...btw.. if this has been done already.. sorry... cause all ive found on this gun and stocks are pl trying to put the PDW stock on it, and having it be unreliable and wobbly.

So for those who always wanted an old classic gas rifle like those JAC ones but either didnt have the moeny or couldnt find one.. heres an alternative.. if you like mp5 variants... This mod took and hour... its really easy to do.. but you just haveta be careful. mines got the silencer form maruzen too. so its got a longer barrel.. and more "smg-like" as opposed to machine pistol.

Anyway, so here's the things you need.. or at least i got.

-maruzen mp5k
-G&G ump-ish stock for the mp5
-bolt and nut (dunno wat size, but youll have something to reference to)
-washers
-dremel (or other rotary tool brand)

This is sorta hard without pics.. so ill try my best before they go up...

So the basic concept of this is to make the stock stay on with one bolt, where the sling mount is supposed to be. (sorta like how an m4 stock goes on.. for ppl who put an m4 stock on mp5ks.. or pdws before.. im guessing youll probably kno wat im talkin about.)

So first step is to take off the sling mount. There will be a hole there.. PERFECT for a bolt to go through. Next, line it up how you want the stock to go (youll notice that the stock hole is actually too small, and has ribs that get in the way.. we'll take care of that later.) Drill the hole in the stock where the bolt will go through.

Next is the tricky part. Now use a dremel, and cut out the inside of the stock where its supposed to fit with the metal plate, so that it fits snug.. this is key, it HAS to fit snug. the plate has to be flush or at least level with the stock! Make sure you leave an edge on the inside too, so that the plate will ahve something to "rest" on when its bolted down.

take a bolt... put some washers on both ends... bolt it down.. and voila.. an mp5k.. with a stock...

Ive alraedy shot it around.. and treated it really roughly to see if it would start to bend or wobble... There is NO wobble at all.. there is a slight squeak if i really try to bend it up and down... but none at all side to side. The trick is to get it to REALLY fit tight... tho not too tight that you crack the plastic.. but tight enough so that it wont twist. So you haveta be REALLY careful when your dremelling out. The only thing that will make the stock over time is the pins... where the plate mounds to the gun.. its a definate high stress point.. and well.. its metal to plastic.. so its bound to start wearing sometime.. but it shouldnt be too bad.. i mean.. its supposed to be slung there anyway.

Id say it really beats the pdw stocks that ppl ahve been putting on.. as i think it looks about the same.. or more badass... AND its seriously REALLY rock solid... ive felt the TM pdws.. adn they dont even seem as strong as this... good work for G&G i guess. :-D

The best part about this mod is the fact taht the mp5k can go back to being an mp5k.. liek how it came.. no drilling of holes in the plate is needed, and all you need to do is put back the sling mount. Keeps the resale value i guess? haha.. you can keep the sling mount on the UMP stock too.

I might put something to fill up that space though, where the stock ad the plate meet (again.. youll know when i get pics).. so that it acutally rests on something in the middle... and not jsut the edges.. it'll make it stronger in other words.

I personally prefer this SO much more than AEGs... partly because its a GBB.. tho the kickback is light.. it just sounds so much better than the 'zip' sound you get. Plus... although you haveta conserve your ammo alot more... i personally think its alot more fun than just spraying all the time. For someone thats played against aegs with only a ksc mac 11 and found it to be barely adequete, this is definately a more competitive gun.

End Result:

Will this work on a Mauri MP5K? From what I can tell the buttplates are identical except for a benign-looking metal protrusion (visible in pictures 7 & 8)
